And EVERY -Yoinking!- ONE IS USING THE DMR!!!’
Why is this gun so bloody OP? I can’t match it even with a LR and Stability because of the MASSIVE flinch it inflicts.

343 needs to nerf the DMR.
i use the DMR for big maps, BR for small
i only use the DMR because without it i feel at a disadvanatge as its so unbalanced
but i have completed weapon mastery, and maxed every gun so i know it feels to go against that gun with weaker weapons, try the plasma pistol

Stability removes flinch entirely.
And the Lightrifle does more damage.
In my experience the LR is better for sniping while the DMR is better at mid-close range.
Carbine and Battle Rifle still suck though.

Actually, it REDUCES it, which doesn’t help all that much.
****** DMR.

Like I haven’t heard this before…
In this weeks bulletin:
> Current State of Weapon Balancing
>
>
> Bravo here with a weapon balancing update! As we have mentioned in various Halo Bulletins, panels and live streams over the past few weeks, we are currently evaluating the state of Halo 4’s weapon balance. The sustain, sandbox, multiplayer and test teams have been working together and evaluating which weapons and categories of weapons need some attention, and we are happy to say that our internal testing has allowed us to make great progress.
>
> We have also mentioned that we are approaching weapon re-balancing very carefully, as each change that is checked requires vigorous testing to ensure that it benefits the entire sandbox, and that gameplay is improved on a global level across all of Halo 4’s maps, game modes and scenarios. Because of this, the process takes several weeks while we are in a constant cycle of making tweaks, testing and retesting. This being said, we are well underway and will be bringing this update to Halo 4 Matchmaking as soon as it’s ready.
>
> Here are some of the big ticket items we’re currently looking at:
> Precision Weapon Balance
> Our goal of the upcoming balance update is to create an even balance across all precision rifles (DMR, Battle Rifle, Carbine and LightRifle). Our latest tests have included (but are not limited to) rate of fire and damage tweaks to several weapons within this category. Additionally, it is important to create balance amongst all primary weapons, which leads into the next category.
> Automatic Weapon Balance
> An important part of overall balance is ensuring that each weapon excels within its intended role. As we move the dials to tweak some of the precision weapons, it demands that certain tweaks also be made to automatic weapons, which include the Assault Rifle, Suppressor and more. We are investigating modifying the rate of fire, accuracy and damage on these weapons.
> Vehicle Weapon Balance
> We have seen many community concerns that certain vehicles may be examples of sandbox elements that could be improved. We are currently looking at tuning some of the weapons that these vehicles have at their disposal in order to increase their usefulness and viability. We greatly value the teamwork (and fun) required in riding around in a Warthog with a buddy, and want to ensure that this and other vehicles have great draw and value.
>
> Also, we are taking a look at many weapons that do not fit within these categories to ensure that the sandbox is providing the most ideal experience possible for all users in all playlists and game modes. As we finish up our internal testing, we look forward to providing further updates on the weapons that will be receiving attention and the specific changes that will be made, once finalized.
Employing bravo is what saved halo’s competitive community. This guy knows exactly what you guys are thinking with “OP DMR” etc etc. at least the boltshot is nerfed so calm the f**k down.
This, still? Read the recent bulletin and chill. Changes are coming, and soon.
Besides, it’s not that difficult to beat the DMR at anything but the longest range. It might take a little creative thinking and, uhm, skill, but isn’t that the kind of challenge people want?
All it takes is skill with the LR or Carbine and a little bit of cover and/or creative juking. It works pretty well for me. Not saying I’m a super soldier here guys, I die by the DMR just like everyone else… but if I can hold my own against the “OP DMR” then surely others can too.

I’m curious… as someone with weapons mastery, do you find the light rifle to be of any use? I’m working through weapons mastery now (only light rifle, pp, automatic weapons to go) and I’m enjoying the Light Rifle way more than the DMR or BR. I can take the Light Rifle against most DMR opponents and at least feel pretty good about my chances of winning.
not to be condescending, but if you use the DMR maybe you would do better?

You casuals wanted an easy game so here you have it! Use the DMR if you want!
It’s not that bad. I hardly ever use it and I do just fine. The only time I really need it is on big maps but I usually just play Doubles or FFA. IMO the gun doesn’t really need a nerf they just need to buff the BR slighty.
A few things:
-Carbine and BR need to be buffed to kill in 1 shot less
-This game has immense aim assist
-Bullet magnetism is ridiculous
-We have flinch instead of descoping, also there’s a perk that disables flinch entirely
-Some maps, like Ragnarok, are too open
All of these things make the DMR seem like it’s OP. Just look past them and you’ll see poor game mechanics are the primary cause of this.
I want to dual wield the DMR

Dem Casuals!
Shaking a stick right now at dem…!

Carbine and Battle Rifle do in no way suck, they’re not as good for long range but I can beat most DMR users I come across at mid range.
Have 343i mentioned anything about the DMR being OP?
I’m above CSR 5 and I have less than fifty kills with the DMR. I stick to the BR.

They suck and I do not care for your anecdotal evidence.
The DMR has the best range, good damage, and no bleedthrough.
The LR has the best damage, good range, and bleedthrough when unscoped.
The BR has bleedthrough but inferior stats to the above.
The Carbine has no bleedthrough and inferior stats to the DMR and LR.
> not ever close. at best it takes away half of it.
Proven wrong then.

I am going to wait until 343 releases the weapon balance update, but in my opinion, we do not need anymore buffs. The main problem with this game is that it barely requires you to aim. WE NEED LESS AIM ASSIST and BULLET MAGNETISM. The dmr would be fine if there was less but that is not the case. People know that they can just shoot and shoot. This is even the case with the br. Strafing plays no role because people are getting red reticles without any effort. In my opinon, the only weapon that seems balanced is the LR and that is either because it shoots the slowest out of all the starting precision rifles of because it has less magnetism and aim assist. I am not sure if the latter applies, but either way it is more balanced.
