It would make SOME sense, seeing as there are already four confirmed precision weapons ( BR, DMR, Assault Carbine and Covenant Carbine ) and there will probably be more when the new enemy is announced. So would more auto weapons make sense? I would love to see a return, with a badass looking high-poly SMG.

I dont see why it was not in reach since they had the plasma riffle and they ruined the plasma repeater after the beta along with the plasma launcher.

What advantages the SMG would have over the assault rifle?
There is no point to it if they don’t find a role for it, maybe higher damage at very close range…
There’s no dual wielding so really no point in putting in the SMG.
The “Assault Carbine” is presumed to replace the SMG in it’s uses. It seems like it will just be a dumbed-down version of the AR to use as your secondary weapon.

Heck Yes!! I want my SMG back So bad… but if they don’t bring it back, I’ll be happy with my beautiful BR. =)
Check out the game informer image that shows a first person view of someone wielding the new DMR. Im 90% sure that the jumping Spartan is holding a SMG if you notice closely. I thought by now most people would have know or is that not a smg? This is based off of memory so see for yourself.

The AR is said to feel “beefy.” If it is going to be a loadout weapon against the precision weapons as a main spawning weapon, it is going to have to no longer be the SMG type weapon it is.

If the SMG drew quicker than the AR and had a spread and assist combination that allowed it to be like an SMG-AR hybrid that’s slightly stronger than the Halo2 and weaker than the Reach AR, it could be a choice as a secondary against with magnum.

I think the Assault Carbine will take over the SMG’s role. ODST’s version of the SMG was great but it lacked stopping power at higher difficulty. From my understanding 343i is taking parts from the BR, AR, and SMG to make the AC. If thats the case then it will be a more powerful upgrade to the ODST SMG.
I’m guessing here but I think:
Assault rifle=SMG/halo 1 assault rifle
Assault carbine=halo 3/reach AR
I love SMG it’s one of my favorite Halo weapons

The assault carbine is NOT a precision weapon. Its an SMG shortened assault rifle type weapon. Most likely the MA5k

Yes bring back my SMG! I would much rather use the SMG over the AR because if I’m going to shoot someone at mid range I would use a different weapon that had a scope. Now yes I do know that the SMG had a scope in ODST but I still wouldn’t use the AR any way.
