It would be interesting if they had a view choice of words (Sort of like elites in 2 and 3). It would be even better if they were building a heavy character on a specific Promethean Knight.
No talks. Just roars.
I hope.
Hmm, I’m thinking and hoping that they won’t speak English. They remind me of the Geth from Mass Effect, all those digital sounds they make.
I’m not sure if they even have working vocal chords anymore being dead/but not dead walking-robot-sarcophagi. lol
I hope not. It’s a little hard to explain but when Elites started speaking English, it broke the immersion for me. I guess it wasn’t solely because they spoke English, but the fact that it clearly just sounded like a human voice actor speaking in a deep voice, it came off as so cheap. I no longer saw them as aliens after that, but just a video game character being voiced by a human. And as awesome as Keith David’s voice is, when I hear the name Arbiter, I don’t picture the character, I just picture the voice actor.
If 343 do decide to make Knights speak our language, I hope they do a much better job than Bungie did with the Elites. Add some distortion to it or something, make them sound alien, make them sound robotic. Just don’t make them sound like someone you picked up off the street and told to read from a script in a deep voice, which seemed to be the case with most Elites.
I bet they will be able to. These Prometheans are AI and they are much more advanced in tech. I’m sure they will be able to translate or at least understander english. Also the Human race has been around for a very long time. At one point in time they were at war with the forerunners. So if the human race spoke english then im sure they know it now.

I actually like the elites speaking English and pictured the Arbiter rather than Keith. It made them seem like they weren’t just primal aliens that just yell and kill. It gave them more character. They are still aliens, but now depicted similar to humans, which isn’t a bad thing. They have a brain, moral and pride like us…
It gave them more story and was very much needed in 2 and 3. We never really got a chance to walk in the shoes of a covie. It is interesting learning about their perspective. You really can’t go in depth with them if they are just meant to be placed in the game and to be killed; that gets boring. Reach shows that.
I don’t even think they would need to communicate.

That would ruin the immersion more than if they spoke English, they’re supposed to be a highly intelligent and advanced race, not animals.
The Knights won’t talk if 343 is smart. The only being that needs to talk is the Didact.
> The Knights won’t talk if 343 is smart. The only being that needs to talk is the Didact.
I’m fine with that. Probably it isn’t necessary for the Knights to be talking right now.
It makes me wonder whether the Didact will be in Knight form. Or… something else.
Maybe if 343 has used linguistics experts (or just themselves) to determine if they can get Promethean ejaculations to sound like orders or alerts.
Oh, that sentence was a conditional. Yes. If they did that, it might be quite cool.
Maybe a garbled, distorted “REECLAIMER!” like when the Halo 3 covenant shouted out “Demon!”.
Did sentinels talk in any other games? I’m sure they were intelligent but they had no need to speak. I don’t think Knights have a reason to, but I would rather they do. Halo 2/3 cinematics are my favorite game cinematics.
