Anyone miss Invasion? Why 343?

I found that Invasion was probably one of my most favourite Halo gametypes. Why did 343 take it out? I thought it great to bring in a new playlist in Reach and was hoping to see it in 4. Instead 343 makes Regicide…no comment. I would love to see Invasion brought back. Anyone else? I think if they did a part of the population would come back.

I think Dominion is the Invasion replacement. I find them both gimmicky and frustrating.

Dominion is supposed to be the replacement for invasion, and I find them both quite enjoyable. I would REEAAALLLY love to see invasion brought back though. Then I would actually do some forge.

Dominion is better, invasion was just a meh rush mode to me.

Only problem is, compared to Invasion, its a load of rubbish in my opinion, Invasion was just that good…

Actually I joined some dudes custom games a while back where he remade invasion minus the elite skins and stuff. Sadly people were too busy arguing to realize when fixes were right in front of them. I wouldnt mind them bringing it back. But before anything else they still need to fix the base gameplay.

Invasion was by far a magnitude more complex of a game and a work of forge compared to any other game. Dominion is nothing more than simple land grab with gimmicky animating pieces to make it look -Yoink!-. In the end, Dominion is designed from the ground up to be unbalanced. It is the sadomasochist child of land grab and invasion slayer.

Invasion was a military campaign in which you (a) breached the barrier to the enemy strong hold, (b) breached the enemy strong hold, and (c) stole the core.

Dominion is grabbing a base and holding onto it. Land grab.

Invasion had all sorts of nuances to it that made the map complex to forge - and larger than the typical BTB map. Dominion is just a standard size BTB map.

Invasion had three fire teams for each species for the invaders to divide the defenders against two objectives - divide and overcome by numerical advantage.

Dominion appears at first glance to mimic this divide and overcome by numerical numbers, except then you realize that the one person holding Longbow Bravo (for example) can hold it with a constant resupply of rockets regardless of the numerical advantages of the other team coming to take Bravo.

According to 343i, Halo was Invasion. But then they turned around and gave us an unbalanced land grab.

I voted it doesn’t matter, because at this point nothing really matters and won’t help the population.

While some believe you can make an invasion game in Halo 4 (customs), what they are really creating is just a multiple phase, progressive campaign. They cannot include forward position spawning (strategic fall back by your bro), or bro spawning at all, dual individual objectives with float timers, etc. The Halo 4 customs campaign style games that people call invasion are shallow compared to Reach’s Invasion.

More gametypes will always help the population.
