Anyone have fun playing PVP?

Cause I personally didn’t. I’ve played both flights for a good amount of time, and when it came time to play PVP I felt kind of miserable after a couple rounds. The gimmick of playing a new Halo game quickly wore thin. I struggled to get above 3 kills per game, averaging 12 deaths alongside that. I’m not exactly a pro at PC gaming but I’ve played MCC a ton and have always gotten 10+ kills in social games.

Is it just because only professional players joined the flight? Do I just suck this bad? I can’t really put my finger on specifically why this game hates me or why its not fun to play, but it might have something to do with the quick TTK. There’s honestly not much time to make use of grenades or the fancy new equipment it feels like. Its so quick that I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a reversal on someone.

Anyone else struggling with this?

I definitely did worse during this flight rather than the first. Something to take into account is because of the way they did these flights, it’s pretty much exclusively hardcore players in these flights right now.

Yeah, my pals and I are having a similar experience to you. Similar theories.
Gotta say, I didn’t notice a lack of grenades. Everyone always seems to have time to throw a couple every fight or right before death lol.

There’s a few reasons, most players haven’t played the game yet so their skill hasn’t been worked out. In MCC you are playing people of relativity similar skill. Even with loose sbmm it’s not too extreme either way, most of the time.

Also a lot of players have been dying to play PvP And those are mainly the hardcore competitive players so you’re more likely to play them now.

Don’t worry it should be much more like MCC in the final game especially after the first week or so.

Same here, it is not a reflection of your skill level it’s a combo of new/weird response settings, sweats and lets face it not the best 4 v 4 maps we’ve ever seen. I think the only games I won were when some kid went 20+ With low deaths.
Loved the first flight but this seemed off. Hoping that it settles down after a few weeks and can compete at my level. TBH I was glad when it finished (Hang my head in shame) but I was!

Me and my friends were having a blast. 3 on pc, 1 on xbox-x. I do admit there was a learning curve for each of us in the first 10 games per player, but after that we had a blast. It does depend on the game, sometimes we don’t get the ball rolling at all, but I never felt as if I was bad. I do remember a few games where we got completely stomped, but I chalked it up to skill difference.

Edit: fixed a sentence error.

I had fun although it was frustrating at times however I feel like once the game fully releases and we get more time to adjust it won’t be as bad.

Had more fun during the 1st flight. A lot of little issues adding up (latest is people dying when they are around corners already LOL - probably horrible net code, only 343 could tell me) to make it not fun though in 2nd flight. Regardless how the pieces drop, I’ll give it a go at launch decide to stay or not.

A lot of pro players are in the flight, but there’s a ton of bad players too. Or maybe those players aren’t that bad and the aiming is just that bad. It’s impossible for me to say anymore. But I get what you are saying in terms of performance in this game not matching performance in other halo games. I know some guy is just gonna say “AdApT” but that’s really not applicable. I’ve adapted to every halo, I’ll adapt to this one, have a 1.5+ k/d at some point, win rate over 50% and finish in onyx at some point - doesn’t mean I will enjoy it like I have other games in the past. I’ll leave when the time is right, said cya halo 5 after 6 months, came back for couple seasons randomly, happily said cya for good.

Something about this game and aiming is just a chore. Every other halo game is easier, every other shooter I’ve played in the last 2 decades is easier to use. I’ll die on this hill, something is wrong with this game and it’s aiming mechanics - and that’s absolutely unacceptable in an FPS.

I had more fun in the first flight. I really enjoyed the first flight’s radar.

Second flight had a lot more crouching campers and a lot more grenade spam that made a lot of engagements less enjoyable.

I agree that the TTK should totally be raised for many weapons, including the AR mainly, but really?? Struggled to get 3 kills? I mean I had some games where I went negative but I always felt like I understood why I was getting out played and could take it back to the drawing board. Everyone has bad games, but overall I had a great time. It was super rewarding to adjust and get better.

Yes, I much enjoyed the pvp experience with my group of friends. It felt a bit like old halo, and the best one 343 has done so far.

I had many games where I felt useless but overall I think I generally enjoyed my time playing.

I think people were pretty sweaty last weekend. The first flight was pretty rough too but that was mostly due spending the majority of the time playing against bots

I’m really looking forward to playing the game again though.

Loved it on Series X, and this coming from someone who normally doesn’t enjoy Halo. Reach and 3 being the ones I really enjoyed.

The movement felt great, like a modern shooter should. Friendly fire was the only thing that bothered me and made nade spam more prevalent than it should have been. Radar isn’t any good either in its current state.

Other than that and the RNG with some of the weapons I had fun.

I actually rage quit one game lol. I think the game will eventually be great. Right now my pc has big frame rate drops and the aiming is off. Tried all kinds of settings and never sorted it out. Trying to use any precision weapon was pointless. Not sure how much of that is my pc, but either way it wasn’t fun. Going back to MCC seemed relaxing after fighting Infinite. Battlefield 2042 beta is coming up and that’s going to determine which game gets my time in 2022.

I had a blast, particularly on bazaar and recharge. Didn’t love live fire but played it out. Literally instaleft any behemoth match.

I play on KnM and performed well most matches. I think the game is actually fairly well optimised for PC, except that there’s no borderless mode which is probably causing some input delay, though nothing like MCC on release.
