I’m not sure how to best tune the aim settings like deadzones and acceleration and stuff to get the aim controls right so I wanted to see if anyone else has already found some specific settings that makes the aim better. The aiming feels a little better than Halo 5’s aiming but it’s still not as easy to control as other games. I just don’t understand what 343 did with Infinite and 5 to make the aiming be more difficult than pretty much any other mainstream FPS out there. Halo 4’s was fine from what I can remember and it’s not the 60 FPS either since MCC aiming is fine too. Just wish they could get it right like Bungie did and other devs do
Yes, checkout my thread titled:
Need help aiming in Infinite?
I go over a bunch of settings that should help you.
There is no auto aim or bullet magnetism, so I doubt any controller settings will make the controls better.
Don’t mess with anything except look sens. I moved both vertical and horizontal to 6.5 and changed nothing else and aiming feels fine to me
Depends what sent you’re used to on MCC. After toying with it for a couple of hours in training, I lowered mine a bit and made up for it with accel going up one. My main goal is to not have it kick in until 90 degrees turning, so I don’t overshoot someone. to my side. Every controller is different, but lowering the deadzones until there’s no drift also helps. Careful who you take advice from, lots of people claiming “it’s great” with sub 20% HS accuracy lol. Just fiddle with it, there def is a sweet spot just have to find it due to there being so many options.
Bumping this thread after extensive testing and messing about with the settings. This is the closest that I’ve found to MCC feel:
look acceleration: 5
look sensitivity horizontal/vertical: 8
center deadzones: lowest to 0 you can get without drift.
axial deadzones: 0
max input tresholds (look and move): 0
Give it a shot. Made the game 10x more enjoyable for me.
This! Don’t mess with acceleration, it will confuse your muscle memory until you get used to it again
I’ll give it a try because you said it’s similar to mcc aiming but I don’t know if changing acceleration is a good idea
aim acceleration: 5
max input threshold: 0
aim sensitivity: whatever you like
axial deadzone: 0
this has been the best feel of older halos that i could find.
Go to training mode…
Then, try these as base settings:
first
- Max out Acceleration
- Lower “Look” Max Input threshold to 0. I suggest leaving Move higher so you can have more control of strafing
then
- lower “Look and Move” center deadzone as low as you can go with tolerant drift
- lower “Look and Move” axial deadzone but I’m not convinced 0 is the best. test different values for optimum feel when looking
look at wall to check move and look control
last
- set sensitivity to preference. Try a low number if you struggle with steady aim (mine’s set on 2)
- i left zoom sensitivities to Default
additional settings to consider:
Accessibility:
- set Reticule Outline Opacity to max
- set Reticule Outline Thickness higher
UI:
- set Chromatic Aberration to off, so the HUD is clearer
- set Parallax off so HUD doesn’t shake when looking around
