I’m not sure if it’s just me but I feel that my controller inputs are lagging just a bit and it’s really irking me. I feel it most when driving a warthog. Like I used to be able to quickly spin around while driving without losing too much speed, now it kinda slides and slows to a almost stop before going the direction I want. Hard to explain but I know as a matter of fact that the warthog handles different having just tried the 360 version. Aswell as this I continue to just miss skill jumps I could easily preform in the original game.
I also feel it during gunfights, in preparation for the build I’ve been playing the original reach for months and am very familiar with how the game feels and preform relatively well in gunfights. Now I win like 1/4 gunfights. I’ve went back and played a couple of match made games on 360 Reach to see if it was all my imagination but in both games I’d preformed far better. I’m prepared to accept I might just be having a bad time of it since I haven’t seen anyone else mention it but I’ve convinced myself it’s playing just a little clunky for me. I have a few ideas why this might be :
I’m English and playing at 10pm, perhaps I’m matching into American servers and that could explain why I’m only experiencing issues?
Second is the controller settings, on the original I played the “Recon” button layout with “5” look sensitivity. On MCC I’ve set it the same except now they’ve introduced look acceleration, horizontal look sensitivity etc. I’ve been playing around for hours to figure it out but regardless can’t get it to feel just right. Right now they’re all set to default except horizontal / vertical look senditivity to “5” and aim control to “Classic”.
The last explanation is that I’m playing on a standard Xbox One with a wireless controller. My interenet speed and bandwidth are very good so I didn’t anticipate this is the issue.
Sorry for lengthy post but I’m dying to know if anyway is experiencing the same thing thanks

Overall, I’m going to have to agree with this. Sometimes when you connect overseas, you get slight lag on the servers.
I live in the US and I only had one experience with lag where the connection was a little off and one player was eventually kicked out of the game from (probably) high ping.
UK player here also, as the population is so low for Europe we’ve been put on to US East 2 server. Which means we’re at a distinct disadvantage from the get go, it’s a shame really but 343i have neglected the non US players for years (ask Australia about early Halo 5 issues) that a lot of players from outside the US can’t be bothered playing. So to keep the games flowing EU players are sent to the US.
Why 343i won’t let us choose which servers we want to play is a complete mystery, I’d rather have a longer search time on an EU server than a terrible game experience on a US server.
It’s not just the Insider program that this is happening with, I’ve been trying to get back into MCC but 99% of games are on US East 2 server. It’s almost pointless trying to have good competitive fun when your at such a disadvantage. Until there is a fundamental change of attitude at 343i towards non US players the global players will continue to suffer. Shame really as Halo was my go-to multiplayer game.

Cannot agree more with this…please 343 hear our cries!
Thank you guys for your responses! I’m very much in agreement that the most rational explanation was that I had been connecting to US servers which would explain why only I’m seemingly experiences the input lag aswell why the vast majority of players had not reported on this.
With that said and I’d encourage anyone else to quickly jump onto tempest on Forge and drive around on the Warthog to see how awkwardly it handles. I tried this last night and I’d thought if it was my custom game then there be no issue handling it but it played very much the same as in the flights multiplayer. ( Though with that said the shooting felt pretty intuitive and better than on the flights matchmaking but that might just be me imagining things)
I’m going to try and play again this morning to see if my experience has improved at all thanks again

Thank you for the response, I thought it was really informative and I had relatively no idea this was a issue. With respect I hadn’t experienced particular issues like this Reach beta in the retail MCC in the past couple of months.
However I could choke that up to being not as familiar with those other games in the title like I am with Reach, the fact I play primarily social games or that the population for retail MCC should be much larger than this beta.
I absolutely sympathise with your situation as I’ve anticipated this realease for months now and to feel like I’m getting a sub par experience than other players has been really frustrating. All the best man
Lag was about normal for me in ant mcc game , as an Australian player we frequently get the west US servers at around 200 ping,
I’m hoping 343 can find a solution to this at some point .
Yeah, I agree with the EU vs NA thing. I haven’t seen anything but “East US 2” since the flight started, except for one game in EU North which was even worse for some reason. Am from Germany. I don’t know what’s going on, but even during prime times in main games and flights, no EU matches.
