I mean halo has the perfect setting for a such a world. A halo ring. You could be an ODST or a marine aboard a UNSC cruiser sent to investigate the ring when all of a sudden the covenant attack the ship and you and a bunch of other survivors are stranded. You are now on a giant open world map (part of a halo ring or maybe even the entire ring) and your mission is to now gather intel on the ring, survive against the covenant and the flood, and you have a massive selection of vehicles to get around the map (using pelican which can hold warthogs and tanks, using stolen covenant phantoms, maybe even steal a war sphnyx. Multiplayer could be incredibly fun. Like GTA online but you are all ODST’s trying to survive. Maybe someone presses a switch and releases a massive flood outbreak on the entire map and you are all on the run for survival from the flood.
yes would love that
that would be pretty sick
This would be sweet to have bro and I’m down for something that similar to this idea being stranded on a Halo Ring and all. But I feel this would work best on VR once it becomes better and the new standard is 500GB of game data and the standard for internet is something close to 1GB of data.
Your idea definitely has potential! Personally, though, I could do without the Flood. ( when I was a small child, the campaign mission 343 Guilty Spark traumatized me lol.)
Not Really.
Didn’t H3 ODST have open world city? It was even entitled ‘Open City.’ Not good enough? Still, that’s a good idea, as long it doesn’t take forever to get where you want to go, and if it does, have some other form of transportation other than a warthog or mongoose, because that gets boing really quickly.

ODST was fun but the open world aspect was tiny. We were not even allowed to visit all of mambasa, and they only made half of a map then mirrored it to make it bigger. A halo ring would be amazing, we would have open fields, forerunner ruins, you could go to areas similar where chief went to on the first halo, and if you happen to steal a phantom you could go to low orbit and board a covenant cruiser
It would be an epic game
Complementing your idea, might have covenant villages with natives
Could be a cool spinoff series.

Same here! I felt uncomfortable playing it every time. (Devils…Monsters playing during the ride down the elevator an ‘What once was Lost’ in the swamp crept me the heck out.) The quite rooms, dead bodies, no elites…it was the closest thing to being in a horror movie. Imagine my panic when I realized there were no shotguns until the end in Legendary difficulty!
343 Guilty Spark is still the only video-game level that I am still uncomfortable playing and I played Spec-Ops the Line!
Ive been wanting an open-world Halo since 2007
that would be awesome
Sounds just amazing, but which era it would be?
Sounds interesting. I would rather be a spartan than an ODST though.
Definitely sounds like it would be fun.

I personally really don’t like survival games, so yeah. If it was a separate game, it’d be cool

I don’t think I have seen the new pelicans carry anything yet.
That is a great idea bro.
And if halo wants to stay alive… they should do something exactly like this.
