I tried the 4sk BR settings off Ghost’s fileshare and decided the DMR was still a very viable weapon.
-It will still have that beastly range which will give it a clear advantage still on even smaller maps like Shutout. Someone from BR3 can still beat someone from S2 easily.
-Putting shots into enemies from a longer range makes it easier for your team mates allowing you to play more conservatively. I can see this still being the go to weapon for “team players”.
-For a BR to earn that 4sk, you must hit 11-12 of the shots. If the opponent has a good strafe, or you have a bad shot, your likely still going to be getting the 5sk.
-The Light Rifle may outclass it at longer range (arguable), but the LR is less reliable at the shorter range. It also has a slower rate of fire and 2 less shots which are usually very important.
I don’t know about you, but I am still likely to be using the DMR after the weapon tuning.
Like you said, the ability to cause damage from a distance suits my play style that depends of others to finish these wounded enemies off, if I cannot get the head shot.
I tried the light rifle… It was not for me.
I may go BR and DMR and see if I cannot get the advantage of both.
If and when I return, I will be more inspired to go ham on my Carbine Commendation again. Also, I may give the dmr a little more love since it wont be the all round god weapon anymore. I will feel much better for using it now.
Edit :nvm, forgot I already finished that commendation.
I stopped using the DMR months ago. It is just a crutch so you don’t have to try as hard. Carbine, BR, LR, and Storm Rifle all the way! (in that order too)
You may be using Ghost settings. But it doesn’t factor in the BR killing on an 11th bullet, and it with a faster rate of fire. Also doesn’t factor in the reduce RRR range, and bullet magnetism of the DMR.
It isn’t the actual weapon changes coming on June 3rd, it is just 110% damage & 110% damage resistance which results in the Battle Rifle becoming a 4 shot kill.
The BR is going to have a slightly slower fire rate which this gametype doesn’t have.
I stopped using the DMR once I got its mastery, and that was before the weapon tuning. There’s no way I’ll be using it once my trusty Carbine will be useful again.
