Anyone else tired of ONI?

I don’t hate the organization or anything, but I am getting kind of tired of ONI being the center of the Halo universe. In the original Halo trilogy and it’s surrounding novels, ONI was a shadowy, behind the scenes organization that was mentioned only briefly, if at all. Now it seems every form of Halo media completely revolves around this supposedly “secret” organization. The entire Kilo-5 trilogy was about ONI being -Yoinks!-, in Last Light the entire mission and the Spartans were run by ONI, ONI controlled the mission to the Ark in Hunters in the Dark, the Hunt the Truth campaign was all about ONI, ONI ordered Palmer to kill Halsey against Lasky’s orders, etc. Enough already. What happened to the UNSC being the main “organization” in the series? Where is Admiral Hood? I miss the feeling of humanity/Spartans fighting for their survival and being just warriors. Now most characters or stories are about Humans being sneaky jerks or trying to hide/steal something.

ONI isn’t technically part of the UNSC. Both the UNSC & ONI are under the UEG.

ONI is a branch of the Navy, which is under the UNSC. Even if they’ve accumulated a lot more power than intended, the head of the ONI nominally answers to the Admiral of the Fleet of the Navy, who would then answer to the UNSC Security Council in Sydney.

I’m pretty sure ONI is just a government agency like our modern day CIA or NSA. Everyone knows who they are, they just never talk about what they do.

They are always watching <.<

I like that we’re seeing more ONI still wish my original Halo 5 concept was going to happen. That we were going to face ONI spartans hunting the Chief… a man can dream.

ONI has their fingers in a lot of pies.

They may not be the top of the food chain, but this chicken is sitting on a machine gun!

I completely agree. I am sick of the petty hatred of Halsey that Parangosky, and now Osman, have. With all of the massive problems going on in the galaxy, why have these two devoted so much thought and hatred towards Halsey when she has done so much good for humanity and continues to be one of the major keys to unlocking the vast potential of forerunner tech and who knows what else. ONI seems to not be working with the rest of humanity in the goal of survival, they seem too busy conniving and scheming, and i wish there was either a change in leadership, or an end to their reign.

ONI IS EVIL BECAUSE THEY STOLE MY PIZZA IT HAS STUFFED CRUST HOW EVIL ARE CAN YOU BE >:(

I do agree that we’re getting a bit of ONI overload when it comes to the extended story. Obviously they’re going to be far-reaching and have eyes and ears just about everywhere, but they lose all of that shadowy element when they’re blatantly out in the open all the time. That’s just not as scary.

I’d really like to have much less ONI in the books. They were more fun when they were threatening and mysterious, less so when they’re strutting around in broad daylight with a narrative spotlight constantly shining on them.

im tired of humanity in the Halo universe.

O.N.I is like the lemon of life. Sure their plans may seem sour at first, but if you continue to squeeze the inside of the organization, it turns out to be a sweet lemony refreshing drink!

Oni would be the seed in that drink that you choke on because you didn’t see it floating in there.

Oni is apparently making some hard hitting, heavily advanced, heavily armored vehicles/weaponry…Wonder what they’re getting so prepared for…
