Anyone else think the maps are pretty bad

just gonna go over all of em real quick and give my thoughts on them

aquarius: boring and just generic. its literally just the most basic “arena shooter” map ever. which would be fine if it actually looked cool, but it doesnt. i dont really even know what this map is about other than like, probably water

bazaar: bazaars fine, its new mombasa so cant really go wrong with that. if i had to complain about anything, i guess it feels too much like a map designed for ctf. like its really split in three and not really in a natural way i guess
yknow now that i think about it i kinda doubt any city would look like that

behemoth: giant annoying pain that aint any fun to play on, screw this map

launch site: HAHAHAAHAAH, i hate you 343

live fire: fine i guess, it gets the job done

recharge: same as live fire, though for some reason this map feels so damn familiar and i dont know why
unless youre playin oddball, then this map is the worst

streets: yknow for a city map this thing feels really cramped. i cant stand this map, it all feels so claustrophobic and i hate how despite that, every place to take cover is so open so youre bound to be shot at. like did those 2 boxy rooms really have to open 3 times? its the opposite of aquarius, it looks cool but sucks to play

as for the btb maps, i havent played that much on em cause yknow, btbs busted. but they all look the same to me. they literally just look like they took parts from the campaign and called them maps. and just like the campaign, it all has the generic dull grassy hills look

so im kinda surprised by how many maps i think are fine, dunno if i really like em but theyre decent at least, though the others are just bad. think the main problem i have is that it just feels like this game only has like 4 maps, though it has 10 so i guess im not that far off

im just gonna end this by remindin yall halo 2 and 3 had over 20 maps
yeah

I like them all, honestly. Launch Site may be my least favorite, but it’s not bad once I understood it.

I dunno I think Aquarius reminds me of Onslaught from halo 3. Which was a great MLG map. But you could spawn trap people pretty easy. I suppose Aquarius being bigger you don’t get that issue. I think it’s a good Arena map for flag games.

the structure is fine or whatever, its just dull to look at. like, it looks like you could literally put it in any other shooter

I suppose it does feel like you’re trapped in a gold fish bowl!

Live Fire is easily the best map.

Launch Site and Behemoth are pretty horrible.

Recharge is honestly pretty good.

Streets might be one of two maps where most of my competitive play takes place.

Aquarius is the other.

Don’t care about the BTB maps. They all blow chunks.

Halo 2 and 3 only got 20 maps each by the end of their lifetimes, three per DLC pack and Cold Storage, not counting the Halo: Online maps added later - same with the Halo 2 map pack DLC - not counting of course, the maps added by Halo 2 Vista.

No Halo game has had a ton of maps at launch. Just none.

yeah i guess, kinda forgot halo 2 even had a map dlc cause dlc was so uncommon back then
still i kinda doubt infinites gonna be gettin many more maps, especially good ones

You kiddin’ me? This game’s going to at the absolute least, have a five year long lifespan. Probably 7. They’re AIMING for 10, but I do wish them luck at this point. Thing about Halo: Infinite is that it has the best foundation of any Halo game since Halo 3, so I think we’re genuinely in good hands here.

With Forge coming out this year we’re going to have a lot of very good options map-wise. It’ll certainly be better than Halo 5’s Forge to boot, in addition to whatever maps they have an interest in giving us this year when Season 2 rolls around.

I’m expecting an annual 2 Arena maps and 1 BTB map. So in 5 years that’d be 10+5 maps added by 343i, and whatever we get to make and gets put in by them.

Given they’re much more in touch with the pro scene as of late, really more than they ever have been? I can certainly hope that we’ll get GOOD competitive and balanced arena maps, but BTB needs good stuff too.

Anyway, here’s hoping.

no cause all we got so far already has been garbage and its from a company thats been screwin up for a decade now. so i dont think theres gonna be a ton of new maps, especially not good ones

what like an empty canvas? those aint hard to make and dont really count since theyre just templates for forge. thats like treatin and empty forge world the same way as countdown

remember when overwatch did that?

you do you but i aint got any left

did you miss the plants? It’s a hydroponics/gardening operation  peep the baby plants along the glass panels on the walls, and there’s two big areas with plants in soil up on the top mid bridge

You get lost, or you hate the vehicle spawns? I genuinely like Launch site because there’s so many nooks and crannies and tunnels to go through, hide in, and trying to find people sneaking and letting them know the jig is up is a lot of fun. It took me a while to figure out where everything is, but now that I’m more familiar with it I love it a whole lot more. I rarely use the man cannon just because it’s so easy to knock off people jumping over on it.

I will agree recharge is terrible for Attrition and maybe slayer but I like strongholds and oddball on it. Especially in attrition, whoever grabs the melee weapon first is more likely to just roflstomp the competition. I think maybe they should either use the cindershot/rocket spawner or the skewer/sniper spawner for Attrition matches on Recharge. The hallways and passages are just too cramped to escape a melee attack at all unless you’ve maybe got thrusters or a grapple and insanely great luck

wow, plants, amazing

i hate every damn polygon on that map

Aight so you’re just holding grudges lol I get it, I hate CTF with the passion of a burning sun. (I don’t appreciate the hydroponics shade though, food growing is super important, everybody’s gotta eat. Especially in space instead of planetside, non-ground growing operations are key.)

I will say though it might be worth your while just to see if you can turn that spite into using the maps against your opponents. Learning the nooks and tricks and figuring out the tactics that work specifically for that map to get an edge instead of spending so much mental bandwidth hating the map. Just a suggestion. I find honing that spite into a sharp edge with which to fight back is particularly satisfying. Ended up doing this with Bazaar, which I hate for no discernible reason except probably the visual clutter in tight quarters.

The maps (design, layout wise) are good, the problem is that they are really bland and uninspired maps. Is this a big deal? For the franchise perhaps, but Lockout/The Pit were extremely boring as well and yet people remember them well because they were good competitively.

I think maps like Launch Site just prove why trial and error and experimentation don’t result in anything special lol.

At first I did not like any of the 4v4 maps and thought the BTB we’re just ok. Now the only map I still can’t stand is Launch but I feel it’s die to a lack of player on the map. Like many have already suggested, 6v6 seems more suitable.

Fav map right now Fire Range or whatever it’s called.

One could argue that its superior to Halo 3. Better weapons, better equipment, some issues with balancing (AR, BR, and sidekick I feel are the most important issues by far) but these aren’t unfixable or anything and Halo 3 had bad balancing too so that’s sort of a tie.

I’m certain CE fans probably think nothing of Infinite, but if your a Halo 2/3 fanboy it can become amazing.

This all depends on how often they release Forge canvases. If they release a Forge canvas every year then it is hard to imagine they’ll have tons of traditional maps a year, if they don’t then I could easily see them coming out with 5 a year.

After playing Halo 4 and 5, these maps are all Lockout-tier in comparison.
