Anyone else think this? I know quitters are bad and should be punished but I just lagged out, haven’t quit in ages and got banned for an hour!?
I get kicked out of games by the server on rare occasion, and I have never been banned. I believe that the system is working adequately because it is not banning people that are only getting kicked out of games by an unstable server.
pls nerf bungee

Are you frequently getting dropped due to your own ISP? If so, then it certainly seems like it is working. I wouldn’t want to play matches with people that drop games frequently either.
Nope totally fine, if my internet was bad that would be on me, I’m still effecting my other teammates game experience when I leave a match for whatever reason, they shouldn’t have to deal with that just because my internet sucks

No, it is literally my first quit in days
Guys, I agree that quitting should be punished but I genuinely just got banned for an hour for one game.

Try seeing it from this perspective if the ban was only harsh for people who pause the game and quit manually but it wasn’t harsh for those who just have internet issues, first off thats not 343s fault they can’t control your internet and second that would just make the people that quit every match just either turn off their internet or unplug the cable to escape a harsh ban.

No one is ever banned because of what happens in one game. It happens after one game, but the ban is issued after a consistent pattern of leaving is shown. You have far more issues than one game.

He had another dnf 3 days prior, and I think the system is a total based system so you could quit say 5 matches at launch and lets say 6 equals a ban if you quit today totaling your number 6 you’ll be banned not to mention your first ban is only about 10 minutes so this can’t be ops first ban

You don’t get banned because of the actions of one game, but that one game will have been the trigger that dropped the ban based on previous quits, betrayals or matches you have idled in the past. The system builds up a case against your gamertag and factors in any time you do these things. It’s continually looking for patterns and that game just happened to hit on one

I don’t believe that it is based solely on total number of DNFs. There has to be a time-related component and previous punishment portion associated with it. I have some friends with equally sketchy connections but they have not been banned as of typing this.
I don’t think it’s OP. in fact, I don’t believe it’s harsh enough.
With that being said, players who have genuine connection issues should never get banned. That’s straight up ridiculous.
with today’s technology, there is no valid reason 343i didn’t incorporate some logarithm to determine if it’s connection based or a player opted quit before the ban hammer kicks in.

People with connection issues that occur from their side should be punished. If your ISP is sketchy enough to drop you from games on a consistent basis then you should not be playing a playlist that will punish you for leaving. Leaving directly effects the game that others are playing. You intentionally enter the game knowing that you will have problems consistently. That being said it seems that the ban hammer is smart enough to know when the server kicks someone over when someone leaves of their own accord.

I disagree. Why should they be punished because the ISP their paying for is giving them substandard service?
That’s adding insult to injury

Dude. It hasn’t been Bungie for nearly 5 years.
343i. Remember. 343i

Good, that’ll teach you not to quit in the future too. I’ve lagged out a few times, but never been banned. That’s because I’m not a quitter. Whereas you have used up your 9 lives, and now have to pay the price. Enjoy your ban!
Do I think it’s OP? No, I love the banhammer! It means that the quitters aren’t playing the same game as me, so there’s less chance of them ruining my fun. The other day I had a game of slayer, one person quit because we were losing. Then another went, then another. I was the last one left and had to take a 4 vs 1 beating. It sucked. So I reported every one of those quitters, hope they get banned too.
I’ve never left a game. Never got banned.
Been in a situation 3 or 4 times where I was playing with a friend, I got booted but he didn’t. Never got banned.
Been booted one or two times for “connection” issues. Never got banned.
Seems to be working fine to me.

I just checked his game history. 1 DNF in 50 matches. I stopped looking after that. I think we’ve finally found an instance where the ban hammer misfired.
