Anyone else think Spartan armor is way too bright?

It just seems like the armor color is EXTREMELY vivid. Not so much for Fireteam Osiris and Blue Team, but the multiplayer Spartans.

Like, it’s so vivid that the sheer saturation of the color drowns out some subtle detail.

Sure, I can understand the logic behind wanting red and blue to stand out for gameplay purposes, but I’ve always been of the ideology that player color really doesn’t matter when determining friend or foe when you take into account the name-pop, red reticle, and friendlies constantly having a waypoint over their head.

They do seem quite vivid for Spartan armor…

I think most of it is map lighting. I don’t know, I like how red team looks, though. I’m usually a red spartan anyways.

I mean look at this

It’s just to accentuate the spartans. Look at real footage recorded, it’s not that bad. The more lighted levels make the spartans brighter, but not that bad.

I actually saw some gameplay footage and that’s what prompted me to make this thread.

The Spartan armor is very vivid by default, but some levels’ lighting tones it down a bit. Particularly bright, open-air maps.

Well, that’s because it’s sunny. And everything else is bright. That’s sort of the point of dynamic lighting.

I think it fits, Halo always seemed so bright and colorful to me. This is more like previous Halos where as 4 had slightly washed out team colors.

Take the Halo 2 anniversary MP art style (colour pallet) and replace the armour with Halo Reach’s. BOOM! You have made the perfect looking Halo game. Are you mind blown or do you need more time to comprehend how much of a clever man I am?

No, thanks. That’s not the ‘perfect looking halo game’ in other people’s opinions. Including my own. It looks just fine how it is.

I like it. It gives off the vibe of newly issued gear before it gets worn in from constant battle/training.

I’m not a fan of it, especially when the Spartans have those white highlights on their armor like the Marine AI it just looks really cheap during ingame footage.

I like the new brighter colors. One it helps a lot more in differentiating players from the map surrounding. It addition, it really helps me because of my colorblindness. I can see colors, but differentiating colors can be difficult at times so this really helps!

I agree

I think it’s a great change from Halo 4 because both teams were just washed out baby blue and pink…

Still though, they seem a tad saturated. Could probably be solved by making them more like Reach’s colors (which I feel had the best color balance.)

I’ll agree with you…I prefer a more muted palette myself. To me it looks like everything has the “Juicy” filter on.

But whatever…personal preference and all that.

remember that this game is also going to the casuals. Super bright colors are easier to pick up in combat.

Well people were complaining about good graphics being “visual clutter” that often camouflaged certain teams. I guess making the colors more vibrant was a better solution than downgrading the graphics quality.

Ideally, the colors wouldn’t be so bright, but it’s a small hit to take for not having to worry about one team having the advantage of blending into their surroundings better. I really don’t mind it whatsoever.

Even though the MP spartans do look a tab bit saturated, I’m more worried about how the marines in Warzone look. Now THAT is what I call over-saturated.

Same, i’m fine with the spartan colors. Just not the marines. They look way too colored and bright in warzone.
