Of course not with making halo 4 a great game. So far it is looking pretty good. Of course no game will ever be like halo 2/3 or as good as it but halo 4 looks really fun so far. By lazy i meant with the ranking system. I know they are busy and all but it seriously doesn’t require a genius to create a good true skill fair rank system. There can be rank for casual players and competitive. Same with play lists. You should be able to chose if the rank is visible or not. Why do we not get this option??? I seriously have no idea what they are thinking.
We all heard thousand of examples why rank needs to be visible and why it matters. And it is true it does matter. EVERYTHING, and i mean EVERYTHING in life has its own rank. And YES it is visible. From the job you have, the car you drive, the place you work, the clothes your wear, the sport you play, and so on and on… So my question is… why is the WORLD… can a game not have rank.
They are NOT lazy, how dare you!
Besides they are doing a great job, and still people complain about something that isn’t even out yet.
We haven’t even learned how the ranking system will actually work, how does that make them lazy? I’d say completely reworking a dying franchise and bringing it back from the brink of failure takes quite a bit of work.
So, they spend over three and a half years making a COMPLETELY new game with a totally upgraded engine… And you call them lazy?
They’re far from lazy, if you ask me. Look at the developers of games like Assassins Creed or Call of Duty and you’ll know what laziness is.
> We haven’t even learned how the ranking system will actually work, how does that make them lazy? I’d say completely reworking a dying franchise and bringing it back from the brink of failure takes quite a bit of work.
It has been confirmed. Rank will not be visible. Might as well not even be there.
The longest campaign to date, 50+ Spartan Ops missions, the same amount of on-disk maps as every other game, a complete overhaul of the Halo engine, all kinds of new modes/features, trying to fix all of the problems that Reach caused, etc.
And you’re calling them lazy b/c of the ranking system, wtf?

You obviously only read my thread title. I never said they were lazy with the game. I said the ranking system.

Having an invisible rank does not mean it shouldn’t be there. They put in work, it doesn’t matter who has a higher rank now. You won’t have noobs quitting in the pregame lobby because they’re afraid of the nova on the other team. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean they didn’t make it work. Besides that it’s not visible to others, we know very little on how it actually functions. Nobody cares about rank anyway.

Yes i am. Because 95% of the forum population is not happy with the rank situation. And they seem to not care about that at all. It will literally take them a day to fix this issue. Or even less. But it seems like they care more about sales than what their true fans want.

You don’t care about rank. Many do. So your assumption about no body caring about it is false. And rank should matter and should be visible. What if sports had no titles or ranks. Would boxing be so fun to watch? No… because no one would care who wins or loses.

Four actually,but yeah i agree.

Well sorry I’m a true fan since the very first game release and I don’t care about what kind of ranking system they will use. I’m way more interested in a great campaign with solid multiplayer map/gameplay than useless rank system. Winning a game is all I need. I don’t have to brag about it after.

No,that’s not true, people want to see a fight so they watch, they DO care who wins or loses.

If their titles were not visible… Which meant no one knew their record. What would make people want to see that fight??? NOTHING… My point exaclty… No one would even know who they are unless they followed their career all the way through since the begging… Its the same with halo 4… we need visible ranks.

Are you a game designer? Likely not so you have no idea how long it would take to change it, and maybe they’re not putting more time into it b/c there are more important things to do than focus on something that gives players an false sense of being better than everyone else with a game as ambitious as the one they’re making. If you’re good, your stats will show it, who cares what a ranking system says.

I remember a time when we played video games for this thing… What was it called? Oh yeah, fun. Rank doesn’t mean squat, if it means so much join a rank site and share your stats with people. In-game rank only causes bad players to boost and quit, the ranking system is still in place, it’ll still match up players of the same level and it’ll still do it’s job.
Halo is a game, not a sport. We play it for fun not for cash and your comparisons are flawed. When you turn on a football game, they don’t have every player’s stats on the screen at all times for everyone to see. They play a game and the SCORE is what you see, just like in Halo 4. If you want to learn who’s got the best stats, you can look up your favorite football player and learn their averages just as you will now do in Halo.
Thanks for comparing Halo with sports, it really helped my argument.

Dying franchise? Brink of failure?
You’ve got to be kidding me.
Not at all. They are all experienced veterans in their field. They know better than all of us how to make a great video game.

Your argument is horrible. Your just one of those kids who had a low level rank and hated every other player for it. And as far as the boosting/quitting. Being a compettive player this did not bother me at all.
