He literally tried using modern events as a scapegoat for desync and server issues on Infinite. Lmao. So distasteful and disgusting https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/t0h7hu/343_employee_postums_uses_ukraine_invasion_as/
It had to do with server outages for Halo Wars 2 and Halo 5. Don’t think Halo Infinite or desync was involved at all.
He’s worried about the world in which he’ll raise his kid, but I’d be worried for my job if I were him.
Kind of a ridiculous comparison don’t you think? A couple video games not working is somehow on par with political turmoil on the opposite side of the world? The level of unprofessionalism
The community team could do a much better job talking with the community. It’s astonishing seeing the types of things they get away with. Responding to the community professionally is supposed to be apart of their jobs.
If I were responding to partners, customers, or other industry professionals like this while at my own job…it would not blow over well.
Don’t get me wrong, the situation he is speaking on certainly isn’t good. However, not everything comes to a screeching halt.
It’s unfortunate that 343’s silence was broken by one of their employees shoving their foot in their mouth on the internet.
I can’t imagine what he was thinking when he posted this. Like is the mental disconnect just that bad that he can’t tell what’s real or not?
It’s certainly a disconnect of some kind. A consumer asking a question and then receiving an unsolicited response.
That sort of tweet would be been better suited as a stand-alone tweet…not as a reply to your customer.
Grossly inappropriate, I really hope he gets reprimanded. 343 has already been trying to inject lethal amounts of politics into Halo. It should be a law that bans any amount of them into video games.
I saw it. Pathetic.
Yes, whats happening in the world, sux… but it has nothing to do with your game sucking.
It comes back to bite them - the community is less likely to be patient and understanding because getting answers feels like prying open a bear trap. Unfortunately community engagement outside of the Shop is one of many things that seems to be absent on the list of priorities. A shame, an outburst like that would/should still get called out for the emotional manipulation aspect but if the community connection was stronger it probably wouldn’t stain their reputation. As it stands, it’ll (probably) be remembered as the time Postum and to a degree by extension 343 attempted to use innocent blood to wash their hands of their job for a day.
No. Let people speak their mind and let people get properly corrected by society. Just don’t use twitter as a litmus test for whether you’re doing something right, don’t expect people to accept or respect a cat litter idea/proposal/statement, and be open to constructive correction.
I read it, I think he was just trying to state that due to current events he’s a little preoccupied with what he was doing. Sometimes big things going on in the world will be attracting everyone’s attention more then what your doing currently and even your job. When 9/11 hit when I was in high school no one cared about work or anything, everyone was fixated on the event that just occured.
I would though, have kept what I was fixated on to myself, or at least not on his 343 twitter account though. “Sorry, but due unforeseen consequences ( half-life reference, huzzah lol ), we will be temporary unavailable for the time being. Please forgive the inconvenience”. Just enough information suggesting that something came up and we’re tied up at the moment, but without actually letting on as to what.
He had to signal his views or else his peers would cannibalize him.
Did 343 ever get a replacement in the works for narrative designer?
news of ww3 will affect everyone differently. He apologized after. nothing burger thread just making someone who feels bad, worse.
2 days ago he tweeted about trying cauliflower crust pizza for the first time.
Im not defending him, on 9-11 my job literally exploded, and i had to go to work the next day, but i dont think this tweet was meant as an official 343 response to anything.
343 needs real community managers that interact HERE, the official message board, not by random tweets.
And how is it that 343 doesnt know when their servers are down? There were posts here, reddit, twitch, and other sites.
Maybe he knew, and was just being snippy, but an official announcement should happen everytime a game is down from live for like, say 2 hours.
But if they dont know their servers are down unless a particular tweet bugs them, that explains a lot.
At least for me that explains why the og halo servers always had issues for months at a time
This is mindboggling.
I think I had the same sentiment as this guy. I often think about what state the world will be like when my daughter is my age…. War floods heatwaves disasters. When these things happen my brain goes in to protect mode… then I think of what if she has children…
But then again - probably not the best place to post his thoughts. We are all human though.
Plus humans are stupid and we severely overestimate our intelligence.
This has already dipped into real world political issues which is out of waypoint’s wheelhouse
