I set a rule for myself that I don’t use my legendary or mythic reqs while I’m not playing with someone I know. Too many times have I spawn an oni scorpion and I get Insta-boarded by someone camping vehicle spawn or I get a legendary req weapon, die and no one is there to grab it and it just disappears.
I have 3 phaetons, a CE magnum, and a Prophet’s Bane that I’m scared to loose and waste because It’s rare that I got someone watching my back

Been wasting mine away on Firefight. Haven’t bothered with the other modes anymore.
It might not be even worth using due to how often I’ve been spawning in enemy fire
You should follow a different rule.
My rule is I only use legendary and mythic reqs, if the game is close, and will be decided by the last 3 minutes of the match. If the match is on the line, use any high level req you can.
If you’re not willing to use a req to guarantee a win, why do you use reqs in the first place?
