So i recently have been looking closer at some of the new armor sets and i noticed something connecting a certain helmet (Hellcat) to the look of the ancient humans shown in a few of the terminals from the chief collection. Has anyone else noticed this or am I just going crazy?
I remember hearing about it somewhere in these forums that they were re-discovered ancient human technology and they reverse-engineered it, or something.
Though, the first thought that comes to my mind when I see that helmet is: “How is that even practical?” Sure, it looks protective, but…are you really expected to look through those thin eye slit things?
I’m still on the fence about the whole “ancient humanity was highly advanced and at war with Forerunners until they were de-volved and dumped back on Earth”.

well remember, originally the whole reason the humans were fighting the forerunners was because of the flood, and as for the whole de evolution thing it was due to the halo array being fired and wiping all the sentient life from the galaxy. Only reason they returned was because of the repopulation plan put in place by the librarian before the firing. As for the whole impracticality of the helmet slits say that to the helmet from dead space, it has a similar deisign but he sees out of it just fine.

Yea. That’s why I want each helmet to have its own VISR. It worked fine and looked cool in campaign.

I read (in the books) that humanity’s de-evolution was done as a consequence of fighting the war with the Forerunners, that they did it as punishment so they wouldn’t rise up against Forerunners again. That’s different from the “let’s gather up humans and put them in a nature preserve while the Halos destroy sentient life in the Milky Way”. The Librarian acted too much like a god than a flesh-and-blood alien, blurring the lines between mythology and reality.
And I never was into Dead Space (not into horror games, hence why the Flood levels in Halo freak me out), so I cannot comment on that unfortunately.

This is correct. Ancient Humans were de-evolved before the firing of the Halo array. We had been eradicating Forerunner worlds that had been infected with flood spores (unbeknownst to the Forerunners) and were defeated by the Warrior-servants and the Didact. It was decades (maybe centuries , can’t remember at this point) later before the Forerunners were over run by the flood and forced to use the Halo array.
