As someone who has taken breaks from games with SBMM, trust me when I say that you will have a much worse time when you do come back because you won’t be at the top of your game, but you’ll still be getting placed into matches like you were.
I remember when Apex came out, I’d absolutely dominate in that game. I was winning what seemed like every other game and I ended up taking a long time off because some other game caught my attention.
I’ve tried to go back to Apex every once in a while, but I can’t compete in that game anymore. I’ll play like 3 games in a row without getting a kill and it’s so frustrating wasting all that time just to get destroyed and I end up uninstalling after a few days of this
Why thank you for kind contribution. Happy New Year to you to.
My Tuesday night custom group had a game running where I had a script that looked at your score vs who was in the lead and applied a different trait. Essentially the further you fell behind the leader the more your shields were buffed.
It was great. We had Silver players in the same game as mid Diamonds.
The higher ranked players still won - but the lower ranked ones had a better time (and a chance to improve) because they weren’t getting killed every time they stepped around the corner. They actually had a chance to fight back.
In some cases the better players actually sought each other out as the easier kill.
Ran a Forge script that repeatedly polled each player and compared their individual score to the top score… and then applied one of the four definable traits (where you could set things like shields) depending on the difference.
It was crude but effective.
Hopefully the new Forge has expanded script capabilities. I would love to explore game types based around damage stats.
This is where I’m stuck, right around Diamond 5 in Open. The losses are so punishing and the ranked progression so inconsistent, that it feels disincentivising to play ranked right now.
My opinion, sbmm should filter by individual levels within a certain range of your personal sbmm (or however it’s qunatified), rather than average for the team.
Cuz it’s really dumb for 1-2 people to carry a team but still lose easily bc the other team is more well-rounded
