I play bumper jumper and whenever I’m in a cqc situation and go for a jump and melee, it takes a. Good two seconds to register the melee. It almost feels like a bug but I haven’t heard anyone complain about it. It’s like the game is confused and doesn’t know if I want to melee or initiate a ground pound. Any info on this would be great.

In Bumper Jumper i lose almost all my duals when we are both oneshot with the melee ;(
But when i jump it’s worth and It’s like it doesn’t work everytime because the -Yoinking!- ground pound and i get rekt and i mad so much lol
Yeah that happens to me. I as well play on bumper jumper and have a tough time knocking someone out when I’m in the air 
I’ve had some general melee problems honestly. Also playing bumper jumper and sometimes my melees just don’t register whether i’m in the air or not. It’s only about a 1/20 that I try but it’s aggravating. I will get the full lunge and they don’t dodge it and it does no damage…

It’s because the addition of ground pound. It needs to wait a brief moment after pressing it to see if you’re going to hold it down for a ground pound.
You are probably pressing melee too long. Just click it if you only want to melee. Hold it if you want to ground pound.

Its like it doesn’t register the mele due to the ground pound also being mapped to the bumper button. It’s really frustrating as I also die a lot due to this problem lol.
I play with default controls and I have the same problem
It sucks because I’ve struggled with back smacking/assasinating for years and now that that problem has been addressed we have a new problem. Guess I better cut back on my cqc battles.
in previous halo games the melee was on the press of the button, now its on release.
as a result it will be as delayed as it takes you to push and release, which can be quite a bit of a second overall. this is noticeable when compared to response on push.
this is due to the addition of ground pound as others have mentioned, which is preformed by holding the button. as a result they had to change it from on press to on release.
im not sure if disabling ground pound will remove this, but if you want to try it i suggest it.
the only way 343 can fix this is to remove ground pound or put it on a different button.
yes the end result is that melee is twice as slow to react on average.

I’ve actually tested it in customs. There’s a significant delay ended the bumper is tapped.
Yes. I play on bumper jumper and when I try to melee, I get nothing and when I try to ground pound, I just punch the air. It all works fine in custom games, but the issues mentioned above run rampant in matchmaking. It’s very hit and miss.

Don’t you love when ‘new’ features in games ruin well established tactics for a franchise?
