For a balanced game may be AR and NR, or maybe for a super balanced game, magnums only, so theres a hunt for weapons on the maps (also adding a few AR’s on maps would help)

Well considering slayer pro is already a precision weapons-dominated playlist, I would go with spawning weapons that are very uncommon in MM, such as the Type-25 Directed Energy Rifle. (Simply Plasma Rifle) and a plasma pistol/Magnum.

I think a problem would arise if someone snagged a DMR from the map, however. All of a sudden, you have one guy that’s able to cross-map, and four guys that can’t do anything about it, because their weapons are less viable at range. :\

You have a good point. But it is no worse than regular slayer at that point. You start with an MA37(AR) and an M6G(Magnum). In this case with Overkill’s or my weapon selection, you will start with a magnum that can do something about the DMR.

Assault Rifle and Pistol.
I’d be fine with that change, not so sure about other players though.

I don’t see the problem here.
DMR starts are awesome. I usually quit a lobby if derp AR’s are chosen. Terrible gameplay and too noob friendly. I do not enjoy herp derp skill-less AR / melee wars for 15 mins. Why anyone would is beyond me.

That’s because Bungie made another unbalanced weapon sandbox for Halo. Changing the weapons used at start won’t solve anything because then you’re just placing additional value on weapons that are already better than the “victim” weapons that cause the problem.
I’d like to see a gametype in TS with loadouts with a variety of weapons, both UNSC and Covenant with damage boosted for a balanced sandbox. I wonder balanced it’d be if the DMR was a 4sk but with headshot immunity. Although that’d make the Pistol worthless. Probably too slow with AA’s thrown into the mix though.

People regularly vote for the easiest, unfair or OP weapon starts. Put in a Rocket Launcher playlist and you’ll probably get a lot of votes for that. They vote for DMRs because it’s much more OP and reduces on map movement and weapon control. Much simpler to follow a basic routine (Slayer Pro pretty much takes away everything).
It would be nice if they added in different gametypes or variations through the options. Switch them around and see how the game changes for everybody. Slayer DMR should really be better suited for gametypes designed around the game, not the Default Slayer with one weapon spawn changed.
Probably look at playing to Reachs strengths, give variety in the loadouts, attach weapons to AAs. How regularly will people spam AL if they spawn with no grenades and only a Plasma Repeater? Will Hologram get more use if it was the only loadout with 2 spawning grenades? We should be looking into the options we can play with the change up the game. Probably look into removing Slayer Pro and maybe even Slayer DMR from default Team Slater. About 90% of all the playlists are “DMR only”, why shouldn’t we reduce that to 89%?
I have a gametype in my File Share I want people to test out and give feedback. Feel free to give it a go 
I prefer DMR starts over AR starts simply because AR starts are stupid and worthless in competitive play. AR takes no skill what so ever to use and most 1v1’s with the AR end in a melee trade. I’d be ok with AR starts if the AR weren’t so easy to use and melees were less powerful.
EDIT: on Second thought, why not just make Team Slayer 100% AR starts, and bring back ZB slayer with bleedthrough? I’d be happy to play ZB all day, and everyone else can noob it up in TS.

The problem is not everyone uses it like you though, most people do the annoying things stated above.

Which is why we need a bit of variety instead of just DMRs all the time. Maybe give them enough time to play around with and test other weapons, learn how to use them. Who knows, maybe they’ll find that they prefer using other weapons.

Yeah. Remember all those votes for Team Rockets in Halo 3?
DMR needs to come up more often, needs to be bumped up to a 4 shot kill, and the AR needs to be nerfed so that it takes 40 bullets to kill from full shields. Oh and get rid of AL and Camo.
Not that 343 will do anything, Reach has months left.

Reduces map movement? never heard such a lie before. I’m pretty sure all my youtube vids of DMR starts can disprove that statement right there. I’m able to move everywhere in DMR matches. Not sure what playlist you play where everyone camps with DMR’s but all of mine have been good. and how is the DMR OP if everyone has one? You can’t say it’s OP if you got out DMR’d when you had a DMR yourself.
I always find it funny when people hate on the DMR. It’s a great weapon and I see no reason for it not to be a starting weapon 100% of the time. At least it requires skill to use unlike a derp AR start match.
