Anyone else have high hopes for halo infinite?

sure the game is a bit rough at the moment, but it is doing surprisingly well, the game is obviously making money for 343i so with hope it will get better with time. That and they are actually working on things the community brings up and even changing things that we ask for after they screw up.

They are listening which is rare. That said I can’t be the only one who sees this game 2 years down the line when it has more maps, forge, more weapons and vehicles being well a good game.

right now it is meh and I am holding out it goes the way of No mans sky, and fallout 76 going from a meh or bad game to a really good one with time.

I too have hope, but 2 years time sounds appropiate.

Well, you’re suppose to release a product when it is ready and completed… Making updates, and polishing and refining your product after launch is totally normal, but releasing a half finished product you have worked on for six years and then taking one or two extra years to finish that product after you have launched it… is a failure. That’s like turning in your homework/test to the teacher half completed and then telling her you’ll finish the other questions later on randomly throughout the rest of the school year.

This is 343’s usual routine. There really isn’t anything to get excited about for nearly a year or more after they launch a game. They have done this exact same thing with H5 and MCC. And even Halo 4 took the better part of a year to get multiple playlists, game modes, and the rest of the Spartan OPs.

And I wouldn’t really say that they are listening, per se. It was more like “oh crap, our new update just broke things unintentionally, so let’s roll out a newer update to undo the update we just dropped.” It’s these consistent mistakes that 343 continues to make over and over that will jeopardize the roadmap later in the year.

In any case though, I’m glad you’re excited for Halo! If this was my first rodeo with 343 I’d be much more optimistic, but I’ve been watching them operate for over a decade now and unfortunately, I am just not impressed with their video game work.

I’m tired of hearing “they’re listening.”

They should have listened and not released a busted, incomplete game. The content and map pool is shallow.

They delayed the game for months. It should have been further delayed and released with more content. They messed up with MCC…. That was their last chance with me. There’s no longer chances to fix their screw ups.

They know what the community wanted. They didn’t deliver. To backtrack and pass it off as “listening to the community” is just to give the few left false hope.

I do really. I really believe all of this will turn out great.

They wanted to wait, but people here where not willing to wait, keep in mind people say the game is 6 years of dev 4 of that was making an engine, 2 of that was the game, it still needs 2 more.

Corporations can’t just keep working with out putting out so their hand was forced. you can’t delay for ever because if you do you might run out of money to release it or worse pull a duke nukem forever and no one wants that.

Definitely.

The core gameplay is superb. They just need to address desync.

We have a solid launching pad. Forge is coming. And hopefully by the end of the year they are sorted enough to make the Seasons quarterly.

I think what we see at the Microsoft Expo will give us an idea. If, it’s a no show or they announce a spin off title then Id read that as then quietly moving away from Infinite. We’ll get Forge but not much past that.

If they announce next campaign DLC and this new big mode. Then yeah maybe there is some hope. But I am very skeptical they can get this stuff out reasonably quickly.

I mean, to me, two years is you could make a new game in that time. So any DLC would need to be out either end of this year or middle of next.

I’ve went into this game knowing it wasn’t going to be all the way there at launch, by I’m a firm believer that once Forge and custom games browser is added to the game, the content starvation we feel right now won’t be an issue. For whatever shortcomings 343 has when it comes to releasing content, the community will be able to make up for it with their own maps and modes. Also, I feel like after Season 3, we’ll be getting content every 3-months like intended. The main reason we have 6-month seasons right now is because of all the things they are trying to finish that were supposed to be in the game at launch while also working on seasonal content. Once they get to where they’re just working on the seasonal content, Infinite’s gonna be in a good place

I don’t know at this Point.
There are things where Infinite is doing a very good Job, but on the other Hand, there are tons of Stuff that are executed & handled in the worst way possible.

Sometimes I feel like: “Hmm, things are going in the right Direction”, often Times I feel like 343 is completly out of Touch with their Priorities.

It may sound cliche at this Point, but yeah: Halo Infinite would have been in a way better Spot if this Game would’ve been released in 2 Years.
I’m not just talking about Content, I’m talking about very basic stuff like the functionality of the UI & Social Features.
343 is about 15-20 Years behind in Topics like this.

The multi-billion dollar corporation could have easily delayed and it would have been fine on their wallets….

As for the climate of the forums here pre-launch, I wouldn’t know. I’m sure, though, the climate would have been better in the long run if the launch was delayed.

I haven’t paid much attention since the S2 launch; but I’m assuming the game is still exsanguinating players?

I hate to speak on hypotheticals; but, hypothetically speaking, if the game was released complete, with a larger content pool, can you honestly say the player count would still be low? Would the climate be this negative?

Not really, I am guessing you failed budgetting in highschool or never had it. You can only sunk a cost for so long even if you want to.

Amount of money in the company over all doesn’t mater if amount of money in the section working on the thing is drying up.

What you’re failing to realize is the company is wanting long term success (10 years, and such) and it is in a much worse position for that to become reality. Long term success = more revenue.

I won’t hurl insults or anything because that just goes to show how bad your argument is; but good on you for “passing your high school level budgeting class.”

I’m sure 343/Microsoft would love to have someone with the business budget savvy you seem to possess.

I point to another game that went for that… no mans sky which alone proves half your arguments wrong and that was a smaller team.

Just saying, listening and actually hearing are 2 totally separate things. 343 has had way more than enough feedback than any company would ever need from the player base given the fact that they have been at this since Halo 4.

As far as waiting for 2 years just to have a complete functional game if that even happens, that is unacceptable as a developer to not know how to run a business after 13 years being in business.

They are a multi-billion-dollar company that literally had all the resources they ever needed, and with them outsourcing their work, one would figure that the work should have been done more efficiently. Maybe they should stop focusing on pushing to make a profit so much vs making a quality type of game.

Facts.

They should have learned from the bungled MCC release. They needed to nail this after that and H5. They didn’t. Here we are.

But, hey. They would lose money. Or something?

I’m lost on what’s 343 goal here, because as a business the way they are going about things doesn’t make sense. They are slowly losing the player base and that isn’t a good thing for them at all knowing Halo being in their hands has struggling to keep a decent size player base vs other AAA gaming companies.

Fix the net code
Fix auto aim for controller players
Fix hit detection for console players
Fix desync

Give us open server browser

However, 9/10 matches I play I experienced the above bullet points…

as long as they dont start locking actual content behind paywalls (maps and modes, especially classic maps and modes that should have been in the game already at launch) and they keep AR + sidekick starts in all social playlists, the game can only improve with time.

I for one am having lots of fun with the game and Im gonna keep playing it for a long time but as soon as they start making BS decisions like making all playlists BR starts and going toward a “competitive shooter” kind of game in social playlists Im gonna drop the game for good. never trust 343i

343 is like that one girl you broke up with years ago that keeps telling you things will be different between you two but things just get worse instead.
