Anyone else hate the new weapons gameplay wise?

Only the ravager and the plasma pistol. The PP gets pity points (get it?) because it got the shaft, but the Ravager is inexcusably bad.

It’s like an incineration cannon, but it shoots bubbles. The bubbles become a weak acid with the alt fire, but that’s where it’s usefulness ends.

Oh, and the commando. I don’t hate it, but they need to revert it to the flight version. It’s not viable at range.

Most people have touched on the issues with the new weapons so I won’t repeat it, but I will say I have issues with some of them. I just wish they wouldn’t have removed so many good weapons from previous games, just to make the new weapons. Bring back the laser, fuel rod canon, SMG, Beam Rifle, grenade launcher. So many good weapons left in the dust… or let’s face it… for future DLC just like H5.

You must be new to Halo. Lol

I miss a lot of the old guns. Like the Plasma rifle. What was wrong with that? Or automatic weapons in general?

All my favorite Halo weapons of the past are no longer any fun. I like automated weapons that do the work for me, since even after 20+ years of playing this game, I have no aim.

Needler: First of all where is the color? The pink needles were it’s trademark and now like everything else in this game they look dull. Sometimes I can’t even see them moving towards the target. Then theer’s the weak tracking. And the weak damage. A shell of it’s former self.

Hydra: I like some of the changes, but the tracking is terrible. With the old Hydra you could get target lock and then point it at the sky. The projectiles would thus come at the target from above removing their ability to hide behind something. As with Needler, more damage for the bullets please.

Rocket Launcher: Come on, it’s just dead. Does it even track at all? It’s power level seems okay, but I would like a version with target lock. Also loved all the variants in Halo 5. Will we eventually see more versions of weapons in Infinite? I mean we had like 8 rockets, three Hydras and three Needlers in 5 and that was great.

I miss the carbine, and needle rifle. I wish they just made Banish variants of some of the older weapons. A few new weapons here and there is nice, but they shouldn’t all be super gimmicky.

It’s still faster than the AR.

Maybe they should increase the damage, reduce the ammo amount, improve the tracking and make it a power weapon.

Adding the Hydra’s weak target lock to it might be good.
Maybe only for vehicles.

I didn’t like the shock rifle until I started using it in bots to learn it, now I can’t one tap almost every shot I make with it. I love it so kuch.
Commando is hit or miss but I prefer it over the AR
Other guns i haven’t used too much to say, in campaign though all guns are pretty sick

In PvP, sure. The Shock Rifle is an absolute pain in the hands of enemy snipers, and a handful of weapons feel very inconsistent (Commando, Pulse Carbine) to downright useless (Plasma Pistol, Ravager).

In the PvE campaign sandbox, though, I’d say I’m about 85% satisfied with everything, thankfully! I dislike just how nerfed the Plasma Pistol feels, and Shock Weapons still haven’t clicked for me. I strongly dislike how Shock Weapons swiped the EMP effect from the Plasma Pistol, but unlike the PP, they do not telegraph their EMP at all. Just creates a lot of situations where you’re stalled out in a vehicle without any warning. Shock grenades feel very handy at times, too, although they almost seem like get out of jail free cards that just buy you free kills with some Elites/Brutes in the campaign.

So, Shock Weapons remain iffy to me in both PvE and PvP. But aside from that, I really enjoy a lot of what’s here! The AR, Sidekick, BR75, Mangler, and Sentinel Beam all feel really good- I also actually adore how the Ravager feels in the campaign (still hate it in MP). The Commando, Pulse Carbine, Needler, and Stalker Rifle feel like a step down, but not bad. Some really strong elements to hone in and expand on going forward IMO. Just a huge question mark around all the Shock stuff for me.

I want the Plasma Rifle back in a big way, and would love to see the Spiker back too.

They have got to get it right, though. The PR has felt toothless IMO since Reach, and even in H2-3 it didn’t really stand out unless it was dual weilded. I think it was OP in CE, but something closer to that would be better than bringing it back just to be useless yet again. It’s one of the most iconic and beautiful designs in the series, it really deserves a proper comeback.

To me, the Plasma Rifle has always felt like the AR but with a Covenant theme, so it doesn’t really make sense for it to be in the game as it was.
I’d say the same about the Shock Rifle, the Disruptor, the Commando, the Stalker Rifle (or the BR) and the Bulldog (or the Mangler), however.

Some thoughts on changes that might be good to differentiate them:

  • Plasma Rifle.
Less damage than the AR, but burning damage (greater to either shields or health) for a short duration decided by the amount of shots connected (shots / x).

  • Shock Rifle.
Less damage and more shots required to disable vehicles, but shock damage (shields would not regenerate while shocked) for a duration decided by the amount of shots that connected (shots * x).

  • Disruptor.
More shots required to disable vehicles and no arc, but greater shock duration with fewer shots than the Shock Rifle.

  • Commando.
Less long-range damage and less close-range damage, but less recoil at long-range and faster reloading.

  • Stalker Rifle.
More damage, but slower rate of fire.

  • Bulldog.
    More damage, but slower reloading.

The projectile or tracking needs turned up for the pulse carbine, you’re extremely lucky to get a full burst off

Cindershot is a terrible weapon. You either need an enemy to be practically standing still, or at close range.

People are already running away in halo infinite because you can’t close the gap without the thruster so both players end up running in a circle

That’s what I was thinking. The assault rifle, battle rifle, sidekick and rocket launcher are the only ones I like. I can’t stand the banished weapons. Especially the triple fire covenant plasma rifle. I miss dual wielding the old plasma rifles too. You just felt powerful when you picked up two of those.

The Shock Rifle and Mangler are very powerful, and compared to the other Banished weapons, they’re easy to use.
