I have been playing team snipes quite a bit, and the flinch when zoomed is massivly broken. It at the very least is too much, you always die cause you flinch sky high. But I believe it should be taken out entirely.
The flinch with other weapons isnt as bad, but the whole idea of it is broken.
Do yourself a favor and get a hold of some binoculars/telescopes.
Look through the glass.
Now tell someone to shoot you with a rifle while wearing body armor.
(A punch in the arm holding the binocular/telescope will suffice.)
Then come back and tell me if flinching with a powered scope is too much.
The more zoomed in you are, the bigger the flinch will be.
But anyways, Reach’s zoom out when hit system was preferable for me.
You think this flinch is bad? Try living a day in the Pokemon world. More than few moves make you flinch like crazy >.<
Air Slash+ Serene Grace+ Paralyze= Rage quit.
OT: Flinch is annoying but if it’s going to stick around, then the flinch needs to consistent for every gun that doesn’t kill you in one hit. The Sniper is going to make you flinch as much as getting by the DMR or Carbine or Magnum (or whatever).
I was actually listening to Halo Councils comments on the flinch system and they seem to agree with you, and go as far as saying they prefer Reach’s unzooming over flinch.
HOWEVER that said, I prefer flinch. Am I weird? Maybe, but I find I perform better with it than I did with unzooming.
So yes to flinch for me, but I know I’m not everyone. If it wouldn’t be unbalanced, maybe making some guns unzoom and some flinch so we can choose our preference?
It doesn’t bother me. It is very easy to combat by just pulling down on the joystick. Can’t say I’ve dies more than 20 times total over my career due to flinching. And all of those were prior to getting used to fighting it.

Because games=real life
Also, Reach’s zoom out when hit system? Clearly the whole zoom out thing originated with Reach right? Halo:CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, clearly didn’t do this at all right? rolls eyes
For those of you saying that Halo 4’s flinch is realistic: You are just dead wrong. If you are wearing a heavily armored suit with energy shields and are getting shot, you will flinch. However you won’t flinch by aiming upwards at a 45 degree angle like its portrayed in the game half the time. You will jolt from the shot, and the reticle would move up and back down in a rapid fashion. This is portrayed in Call of Duty and Battlefield. You do not simply flinch upwards and stay that way when getting shot. It doesn’t work like that

I think the flinch should at least be reduced. I don’t know about removing it entirely, though. I mean it still has to be balanced, so we need at least something there and I really don’t want that damn thing that knocks you out of zoom to come back.
Where is the ‘‘Make the flinch bigger’’ option? I’m tired of getting killed by a sniper at mid range when I’m attacking said sniper with a DMR/BR. That didn’t happen as often in previous title.

But must we have realism ruin the actual fun of a video game?
It doesnt make sense nor fit in the halo universe IMHO. Did we forget that the spartans can flip vehicles like they are feathers? It just makes for more no scopes for me as of late. Only zoom in when you know you will get the first shot. If they are looking your way no scope.
