Stockpile is hands down probably the worst game mode that I see a lot of players leave off start except for those who need to complete a challenge or two.
It’s goes one of two ways, either your team plays the objective and wins or you get out on the team that hates stockpile (like I do) and just goes for a couple kills and let’s the other team win cause you just want the pain and suffering of playing stockpile to come to an end ASAP.
It could use some tweaking. For example instead of spawning all the power seeds at once into one location, it should only be 5 power seed and they should individually spawn in different parts of the map. This will put more emphasis on stealing seeds from the enemy base, and being competitive to get to the seeds spawned randomly throughout the map.
To me this game mode needs some tweaking or needs to be removed from the playlist and challenges altogether.
I like it in theory but the way it plays isn’t great. I think maybe there should be 3 bases per team to insert them and the players can insert them in any if the 3. That way it would be easier and more free flowing to steal.
As it stands stealing power seeds is almost pointless. You are super vulnerable, enemies constantly spawning around you, it takes ages and even if you do get it, you’d then need to move it to the other side of the map or at least beyond half way. Essentially stealing is a waste of time in 99% of games.
Yea you can simply grab the nodes from the spawn and take them back. But I’ve had a lot of games where we end up having to steal nodes to win - but don’t need to do that if everyone just pays attention and grabs some nodes right away.
We could be playing much better gametypes but maybe it just needs to be balanced. Deadlock and Highpower are not symmetrical so I don’t think 2 sided objective games work on these maps.
Stockpile and Total Control are just such poorly thought out game modes. Neither of them are fun and I hate when they come up. The only objective game mode I really enjoyed is CTF. I loved Assault but for some reason they’ve left that out. Goodness knows why.
Stockpile is predictable. It either has one team dominate, or it’s a sweaty power struggle for the middle. Once you have a power seed, the other team very, very rarely manages to take it from you.
Total Control is Invasion from Reach but if they bought it from Wish. It revolves around one team dominating half the map which generally only happens when the teams aren’t balanced. It would be much better if they have special maps built for it. But playing on standard Big Team Battle maps doesn’t work.
Probably one of my favourite gamemodes in the game right now. It’s a cool btb mode that hugely favours map control, dynamically changes where the focus of the battle is throughout the match, and because there are several objectives active at any time, it means the entire team can contribute & participate in it, unlike something like CTF where you’re only gonna have one flag carrier, with the rest just killing eachother to clear a path or defend.
My least favourite is slayer cause why would you go for 12v12 just to go for kills, it’s just like all of the objective gamemodes but without an objective to keep it interesting lol.
Also yes 100% agree with this, I miss true vehicle heavy, open map btb. This 12v12 mode ain’t it. It has it’s perks but doesn’t quite fit the same niche.
I just feel that it could use some tweaking to make it more dynamic by spawning the seeds individually 1 by 1 in various parts of the map instead of just all bunched up in one area.
Would def make the gameplay feel a bit more competitive with small teams fighting over 1 power seed in various areas and would add some more dynamics to stockpile gameplay.
The thing that drives me crazy the most about stockpile is that obviously people don’t like it as they 1) leave that match as soon at it starts. 2) don’t play the objective or bother even trying. 3) just camp at the bases or objective and go for kills.
This leads to 1 of 2 options.
Get steam rolled in a matter of 3 minutes. Or, and extremely long game that gets super heated and becomes fun.
Yeah I think it’s perhaps partly tied with the whole “there is no incentives to play well or play the objectives” thing. I wish there were persistent (as in active throughout the week, not the 4 active at any one time) challenges to capture cores, or some xp bonus associated with it, or a commendation system that tracks your core captures and awards you when you hit certain milestones. Just something… anything to incentivise people to actually play the game as intended.
I do like the idea of spreading the cores out though. It would make for a good alternative version of the gametype, maybe called scavenger hunt or something. Hopefully it’ll eventually be buildable in forge.
I hope there is a custom games expansion with a browser come launch day or a couple weeks after. The devs could use that to creat custom games for us to test and provide feedback kind of like battlefield did for BF4 with the alternate program to test and develop the game post launch.
I just don’t like how a single person can juggle the entire stack or repulsor them all back to base. Spreading them out would also alleviate that. I also feel it takes way too long to steal an enemy seed. Like I already made the effort to infiltrate the enemy base, why is it so difficult?
Can’t stand this game mode, nor does it make any sense to me.
If they had it reset, where everything went back to zero, it would make more sense. Otherwise its just a race and a stupid 1 at that. Especially when you gather the seeds and the other team has 4 in, “oh look 1 more to get it!”
Not to mention the spawn points for these things…terrible
