Has anyone else here tried the new HaloWC Free For All server and gotten completely rekt by pistol wizards? I used to place in second or first place in FFA and I still do pretty well in team modes, but I cannot seem to handle anyone in the new FFA playlist. I haven’t even played enough to be ranked and every match I have to go up against these people who never miss a shot. Every kill is a perfect kill, like for real. I watch the feed on the left and every kill is with a pistol, and it’s got the cool star next to it. I don’t know how the H they pull it off but they do. Boi, is it frustrating getting rekt so hard for a good ten minutes.
After five matches or so I gave up and went back to team slayer. Never had I been so defeated. I must know; have any of y’all had a similarly shameful experience?
I’m gonna force myself in it for the sake of ranking up but I hate the normal pistol so bad in this game. I get murdered with it and can’t use it well myself, Idk if they’re gonna still do the Battle Rifle/Gunfighter Magnum start but I really hope they do, at least with those 2 weapons I can fight back.
Uh first match I went up against the top champ on his smurf and some other high onyx and for 3 or 4th I forget. 2nd match I came first buy like 20 kills I had 40 something 2nd place barely bit 20. But that’s all I played
from what I noticed though (I was never big in ffa) it’s a lot of mopping and rotating in a good spot
Yup. All the time. It’s quite frustrating. What I sometimes do is play a game mode called Accuracy on Octagon to get better. The mode is essentially Octagon except when you miss, the enemy regens their health, so you can only get perfects.
I’ve only played 2 games, first I was one of five unranked players and the other player was Onyx, needless to say we got our butts handed to us. It was nice to see a good player (which I’m not) showing how it’s done. The 2nd game was against 2 Onyx and a Champion which was not fun. Not a game mode for me alas.
I think Menke said that the skill gap was pretty wide in FFA because it doesn’t have the population to support tight matching which could be one reason why you’re getting outshot, but I believe he said he might tighten it up a little though.
Maybe you dont strafe and walk forward making yourself an easy target. I play octagon every now and then and i notice some people even though they have a good shot, they suck at avoiding them.
I agree with you OP, my experience was a disaster… nothing worked for me yet everyone else was a perfect shot, couldn’t get a single kill and was just complete BS. (Sorry probably just my lag from half way around the world, again…)

As of last week I tried the picking people off from a distance and staying in place strategy. I came in second with 37 kills. Much better just by changing my pro strats a bit, but man it is still tough AF not to get absolutely destroyed. On average I still get pretty pwned. People are fricken’ wizards.

This is not completely accurate. His most recent post about this. To paraphrase, this has been the most populated and fair mm in FFA in over a year. I believe that if you can stick it out with this playlist it will help you get better. At least that is my hope. It’s brutal but it can also be fun.

I guess it wouldn’t be anymore as of yesterday, but the post doesn’t guarantee that people would get fair matches all the time. It’s the most populated that it’s been for a long time, but it’s still pretty low on the popularity list and Menke said in the previous update that the lower populated lists could get less fair matches.
