Anyone else getting Anthem vibes

So the game is fun do far but let’s do a run down. Of how it feels very incomplete and not a 6 yr development game.

1: no Slayer only playlist.
2: no Armor unlocks outside Battlepass or on game store.
3: no way to earn money/ credits in game.
4: the store is literally a copy paste from Anthem.
5: campaign missions can’t be replayed on one save file.
6: no forge or co Op campaign.
7: we keep hearing that basic stuff that should be at launch is coming or they are working on it or they are looking into it.

Really getting an eerie EA/ Bioware Anthem Vibes… Well thank God I have Gamepass and ho isn’t costing me much.

Errrr no.
Anthem was another deal altogether. Their main gist and the fact that Bioware was developing it meant people wanted a fleshed out story and gameplay.

It fell short of both.

I remeber when avengers launched and it has the same issues qith its campaign not being replayable. Look what happened there…

They definitely have an uphill battle and there are a hundred ways they could screw it up.

No matter how many marketing buzzwords people want to throw around about “live service” or “ten year plan”, this is an incomplete game with one of its core features stripped out, given significantly less functionality, and monetized, and other core features months away. However, it’s far from the first time they’ve done the latter as Halo 5 and MCC both took months or years to fix.

If they can get more content such as playlists into multiplayer IMMEDIATELY, and if the campaign is halfway decent, they have a chance to save it and earn some good will from players to wait until they essentially finish the game. If the campaign isn’t good, or they don’t allow people to play multiplayer without their poor matchmaking and progression systems getting in the way, then this could be remembered as a very bad launch.

Naaa, Anthem was way worse. They did not deliver at all!

As it seems, the new Halo Campaign should be solid.
And even though Multiplayer lacks content, its Gameplay is at least good.
(That is both as long as you’re not a nagger who dislikes EVERYTHING)

Anthem on the other hand had no challenging Gameplay or interesting Story at all.
It was mostly just flying around and doing the same missions against AI over and over and over again to get loot, you just don’t care about.

Major Anthem vibes. That was my first intro to a rotating store and it’s one of my biggest problems with that game.

I actually think it would’ve been okay if it had a competitive element. But I personally do not do the whole looter shooter thing for the loot, I do it for the shoot. I prefer my loot to be predetermined upgrades, like Metroidvanias.

So, while many people were complaining about lack of endgame content, I was done with the game. So I didn’t experience a lot of those problems.

What I DID experience was fun gameplay, excellent cutscenes, and a decent story, but ultimately a game that overpromised and underdelivered - especially on the customization aspect and the reason to use my custom Javelin.

Now we have good gameplay, tragic customization, and no real reason to use our custom character. Far as I’m concerned 343i is in the same Titanic, but instead of bailing water out they’re telling the guests not to be mean to them for crashing.

The campaign having no co Op at launch was tolerable. But not being able to replay missions. Even Anthem had that.

Also the in game store and inability to earn credits in game.tbats giving off rushed development and half -Yoink!- vibes.

Hell even Anthem being a fully open world allowed you to replay missions.

I’m not holding high expectations on content for any game even if it’s Halo.

But given how bare bones and lackluster things are it feels like yea maybe we will get more and get the stuff we should of gotten day one.

But leaves you to wonder how bad was it for the Dev team.

And was was done intentionally.

This really depends on if we eventually get the modes and features we’re promised in the time window they give us. Already, with season 1’s (and therefore co-op campaign/forge) delay, the answer is “Almost no.”

That said, unlike Anthem, I’m enjoying my time with this game, it’s limitations and technical problems aside.

For real we really don’t have any motivation to really spend time customizing our Spartan it’s method of paywall armor is one of the biggest Anthem vibes I get

Ok but even I admit the flying part was amazing! Too bad it had nothing else to really show for it. It was awesome to just fly around the seemingly open world space unhindered by much more than your overheat level which is easily fixed by water sources and what not.

But yeah, Anthem ramped itself up to be this amazing game that people will pour hundreds of hours into without much thought. In the end, we got a barebones game with a lackluster story, little to no content, and a very strange cosmetic system that I could never really figure out if it was all pay to look good or not.

Infinite has a very predatory MTX problem, I don’t deny that for a second, but the re-playability is there, even once you’ve completed your weeklies. I get it though, unlocking things just by putting time into the game itself always feels amazing, but if that’s all you’re playing for…things to make you look good, are you really having fun? Again, I don’t underestimate the value of being rewarded for playing, but the reward can be just having fun, it doesn’t have to be some Legendary armor piece or a color pattern. (Though yeah, a better battlepass is definitely needed to hit the consideration stage at the very least.)

I’m excited for the campaign to drop, I’ve been hearing a lot of good things from those who got their hands on it early.

Cyberpunk anthem vibes

Also enjoying the gameplay, however so far the free events seem lackluster. Its mostly unlocking the same color 5 times and some challenge swaps.

And I also see no reason to interact withe in game store. I have 0 credits and with no ability to earn credits in game the store is just background noise

Not for long if they don’t improve their matchmaking system and game modes. People are going to get tired of 4v4 and 12v12 grab bag playlists real fast.

The events are lackluster because launch gametypes are being withheld to use as Event bait, instead of actually interesting gametypes being designed that you wouldn’t normally see in classic Halo. I think, with the way they designed how custom games/gametypes work, they may have designed themselves into a corner.

When you can BARELY save custom games as is, and the modifiers for custom games makes less sense than previous games, AND you probably haven’t even finished programming gametypes like Infection, the free events are going to be bland, plain and simple. Ooooh, SWAT, what a CRAZY MUTATION. Fiesta, wild, I’ve literally never played Action Sack before.

With the exception of Infection, Firefight, and Grifball, we have most of the playlists we’ve been playing for years. I mean yeah, it’s a jumbled mess right now because they’re all stuffed into 4 different playlists, but they’re still there. Hopefully that gets sorted out soon though.

Can you save them at all? I have a gametype saved that crashes my game when I open it. That’s the best I’ve been able to manage.

There’s not even a Slayer playlist.

Currently there’s no:

Slayer
SWAT
FFA
Team Doubles
Snipers
BTB Heavies
Objectives
Infection
Grifball

…among others. There are basically two playlists (because quickplay and ranked are basically the same) with a handfull of game modes in each that you can’t select from at will. There’s only so many times people will suffer playing oddball or stockpile when they don’t want to play it.

Anthem store was much better imo. Its customization too.

Honestly those Gamettpes you named I feel they are just going to use them as Event Gamettpes. basically Filler. Where we can unlock 7 of the same coating, or as I call it content stuffing. Rather than one coating for all weapons all armors, all Vehicles nope let’s separate it all to make it look like we have more content.

Anthem has the best customization in any game I’ve ever played…
Completely ruined by its store. There was so much potential. But beyond colors and materials I hardly modified my Javelin.

Even that much was vastly better than what we have so far though.
