So I’ve been playing MCC matchmaking pretty regularly since it dropped on PC. I don’t talk much in game. I’ll crack an odd “gg” or “oof” in chat and let the chips fall. I’m not the best or the worst player. I’m accustomed to the odd accidental betrayal as we all are. I’m having a blast with the ODST weapons. 343 you’re onto something this year, and we love it.
So in June, I was overjoyed to discover the rainbow nameplate for obvious reasons. Thanks 343. Little gestures like that are appreciated - and I like to think of it as a welcome sign for other players in the community. Hey?, want a judgement free zone? Play me in Halo. You’ll probably win because my 2007 skills are in a box somewhere with my gradeschool pictures (lol). That’s why I haven’t changed it yet.
Now- if there is one thing I’ve noticed lately… It’s that I get betrayed. A-lot. Like a-lot a-lot. Much more than I used to.
At first I thought I was going crazy. I’d spawn in and get meleed down by randoms in my team pretty incessantly- but I figured “whatever, this is Halo”. But then I noticed it happening more- and it seemed… purposeful. Like why turn around at spawn and beat down a teammate?
Yet I pushed any suspicions aside~ because this is Halo. I’ve got a BR and a responsiblity to my team. Maybe it’s because I’m not the most skilled, or perhaps because I like to hang back a bit and assist vs. getting myself into one-on-one br duels.
Then tonight I matched with the same group for about three games and just got meleed down on spawn over and over again by the same two players, one of which spammed a lot of “insert candidate 2020” in chat as games would end. Maybe I was going crazy before - but there is little room for interpretation when THAT happens.
This experience has made me wonder enough to post here. Has anybody else who uses the rainbow nameplate noticed that they get betrayed more often than before?
If so- maybe post your experiences?
