I’m not even talking a gameplay video - I just want something to keep me occupied. It baffles me that we’ve heard nothing since E3 last year! It’s like 343 won’t even admit they are working on the game, they are so tight-lipped about it (this is not the case, obviously, they are working on it, but you know the point).
I am baffled that after the disaster which was Halo 5’s marketing campaign, 343/MS decided to do things this way. It’s almost like this is their thought process: “Well, let’s be extremely quiet and not up-front about things. Also the flights we mentioned - those will be so late in development they won’t even matter. The greater community won’t have much of a say in the final product.”
I expected them to be more transparent, and it has been quite the opposite. I love MCC and all, but we haven’t had a sniff of a new Halo game in 5 years, which stinks.
I still plan to buy on Day 1, but the wait is slowly killing me
This happens on most game releases, especially very anticipated ones, lots of people are very excited for this while it does feel that they are being abnormally quiet they are actually releasing a decent amount of content to tease us. For example the sound recording video that was published and very recently a few images of toys based on Halo Infinite have surfaced.
There is also the new book that was shown which takes place before after halo 5, the cover shows what could be blue teams new armour.
Your frustration is understandable. Halo has been arguably the most important game franchise during my life. Halo:CE and Halo 2 LAN parties are among my best gaming memories. I check this forum, and the Halo subreddit, daily just in case there is some crumb of new information lol.
That said, I believe the aforementioned “disaster which was Halo 5’s marketing campaign” is precisely why 343 is being so secretive with Infinite. You can’t potentially mislead your community if you don’t say anything at all!
The multiplayer flights will occur at some point. I’m as surprised as many other people that it’s April and we still don’t even know the dates, but it will happen. Whether or not data derived from the flights are actually incorporated in any substantive fashion into the final game is yet to be seen. 343 has explicitly stated multiple times that it IS interested in involving the wider community in the development of Infinite so we’ll just have to hope that manifests at some point in the future.
343 knows that there is a lot riding on Infinite. The past two titles were met with…mixed reception by the community. A lot of their long-time fans are viewing Infinite as Halo’s last chance to return to form or be doomed to irrelevance. It’s the most important game in the history of Xbox. The game is the flagship launch title for the Series X, is attempting to return Halo to the forefront of the gaming conversation, and finally help Microsoft regain some lost ground after getting thoroughly beaten by Sony this generation.
I have hope the title will be good. The (very) small amount we have seen so far has been promising and their stated desire to return to some of the themes and emotions of the original trilogy have me hopeful.
But yeah…the waiting sucks. But take solace in the knowledge that we’re almost certainly getting something (hopefully gameplay finally) during Microsoft’s digital event, presumably happening in June when E3 was originally planned to occur. Last year, 343 said that E3 2020 would be the big event for Infinite so hopefully that is still true during the online event.
Personally, I prefer things this way, I know the game is coming but there isn’t a constant marketing boom going on when the game is still very much in production.
And I kind of like the anticipation, it makes me intrigued as to what sort of big reveal it will have & I know that when they decide to reveal it, it’s true to what the product will be.
It simply showsme that people have learned from H5g marketing fiasco & I can respect people learning from their mistakes.
Also Im just so used to waiting years for a sequel, this combo of yearly, unfinished at launch releases trend has been rather bothersome so maybe this even could be sort of a turning point, if not at least it shows they want to make a succesfull console launch bait this time around & not just some fancy graphics showcases Xone & PS4 had.
And if you are thinking of doing something gaming related in the meanwhile, there are other games & franchises out there, Halo is a big thing but it’s not the only thing, there even was a time before when there weren’t just sequels of sequels coming on like from conveyor belt but many games were their own little new experience.
Or at least there should be something to pass the time as simply waiting is boring & waste of a time in life, coffee doesn’t drip faster if you keep staring it so to speak. Might as well find something else to do in the meanwhile.
I think 343i has been focusing on promoting Reach MCC and MCC PC recently. But it’s not too much longer until the time E3 would have been, and so I expect soon Xbox will do their digital event. Just a bit longer, hang in there
My concerns are this game turning into a (destiny) development wise, I mean what if they’re being quiet because they have nothing good to say? Halo infinite is the final nail in the coffin for me don’t strike out 343

Oh god, don’t remind me of that disaster of a game.

Esperemos que no ojalá y sea un buen lanzamiento
While I appreciate that the lack of news is frustrating… I don’t see the reason for doom and gloom.
It’s the nature of tent pole games for a new console.
Microsoft will be tightly controlling the PR narrative on this game. It’s more about the XSX at this stage.
If we had game trailers and game footage and/or betas of other release games (on either XSX and PS5) I would see the cause for concern.
Most halo games come out every 3 years. This one is 5 years (or longer since it’s not released as of yet) so as for a lack of news, I agree. Halo news use to be steam running the year of launch and finished with Vidocs and Sprint (video development series.) what do we have here? Nothing but third party rumors. Those who were there for h5’s launch have support the silence and claim to be a learning lesson from the marketing team. What happened to 343 promising to be more open with the community in terms of transparent communication? Sure mcc hasn’t shut up since the pc announcement last year but that’s not 343, those are community programmers of old CE pc (plus other pc halo modders and h5 community content creators) which, might I add, am loving the mcc team. But where’s 343 main A team with all of these interviewed pro players working on halo infinite for the past 4+ years? (I also imagine delays due to the recent quarantine in Kirkland)

Well there is something between deceiving and not telling/showing anything at all…
H5 wasn’t overhyped per se, many games generate hype that they cannot keep up with in the end but still portray the game properly. H5s problem was that the marketing was extremly deceiving about what the campaign was going to be like.
What some you keep forgetting is that some people have been waiting for a new, proper Halo game for 10 years. All I want to know is if sttill keeping track of this franchise is still worth it or not.
I’m actaully happy that you (and some other) are excited, I have never been less excited about a Halo game in my entiere life. Some simple blog post about what HI will be/play like would help already

Truly, theres a difference but in my opinion it’s just too early to release info, both from the sense of showing perfectly accurate representation & from the standpoint of creating a strong hypetrain near the lsunch, latter of which I believe interests marketing more.
And that deceiving, could have been part of releasing things too early in the development.
And don’t make assumptions, I have waited for proper Halo for 13 years, after that there has been pretty good spin-offs & something from mediocrity to rock bottom.
Generally speaking of course.
And whether it’s worth keeping track of the entire franchise, perhaps more beneficial view could be to view each game individually, And however you perceive it, the reveals will be there before the release so, you will get your reference points whether Infinite will be worth it or not.
And don’t get me wrong, Im not exactly excited, rather Im simply intrigued & try to see signs as positive, at least I believe they don’t want to mess up a console launch if nothing else.
it’s just a couple more months till release, if they cannot show a accurate representation now, then there is no way the final release will be any good. And I’m not talking about a in-depth story recap but the overall gameplay should be set in stone by now.
Maybe I’m just different but to me anticipation, following news and all of this was part of the fun when following frachises I love, be it Halo, Gears, Star Wars, etc… But there is no way I can look positive at something that is being developed by a company I don’t trust (based on their pervious work) and that could literally be anything at this point. Will it be calssic Halo or will they chase whatever trend they think might still be trandy at the end of the year? Open World, Hero-Shooter, Advanced mobility? Nobody knows…
As far as H5’s marketing is concerned, I think that H5’s marketing was almost perfect. Rather early involvment in MP and smart ways of marketing the campaign. I had almost a year to “make peace” with the fact that it will be a mediocre MP title. Too bad they had no clue where they wanted to go with the campaign…
To me, it means two potential things. On one end , maybe the SlipSpace engine has so much potential as to allow for quick larger changes to the gameplay … and maybe they already have a plan B in case it isn’t received well initially… and they keep this tight lipped because of halos relation with Xbox.
that… or…
I’m just going to leave it at that for speculation. So many promises have been made. If 343 was master chief and broke as many promises as 343 potentially might break… I’d lose trust in masterchief.
But I refuse to believe 343 wouldn’t tell us if things changed plans… or that all those promises made about halo being more transparent and community involving scraped for sake of Microsoft protocol.
The last thing I want to hear is that “well we were talking about MCC… not main halo flagship titles”
tbh this could go in many directions. I trust, I hope , and I believe 343 will still keep its promises.
About transparency
about being a spiritual reboot
about appealing both to new and old audiences and fan base
time will tell. But I believe . And I think you should too. (Why you ask? Well because if it didn’t disappoint then that just makes it all the better and if it does disappoint then that just makes it all the worse… and tbh … I’ve been waiting long enough for anything to acknowledge playable elites… I’m fed up and I refuse to believe that I will be ignored. So I’m hopeful.)
I’m just amused that we still don’t even know if Infinite has sprint (or which of the other enhanced movement mechanics are still present).
This place, and the Halo subreddit, are going to be a roller-coaster once this fundamental knowledge finally comes out.
Unless anybody has confirmed that the small glimpse of Halo gameplay shown in the “We Are 343 Industries” video, which clearly shows a sprint animation, was actually from Halo 5 and not Halo Infinite. That just seems like such an odd way of revealing sprint in your game because it’s arguably the most controversial addition in the recent games.
I’ll buy, and surely enjoy, the game either way. If I had my preference, I’d go without sprint simply because it would help differentiate Halo from every other multiplayer shooter in 2020. There was also a great video explaining how the forced animations of the enhanced movement mechanics actually RESTRICT your options during game play, which I found quite compelling.
If I was a betting man, I’d say the game will still have sprint simply because that’s what younger gamers expect in 2020. I could also see game critics complaining about how it’s a “step back” from the previous Halos because “I could do X, Y, and Z in Halo 5 but now I can’t!!! Downgrade!!!”
We’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe we’ll get some crumbs in April-May before the Microsoft digital event presumably happening in June.

Halo 2 showed a 9-minute game play demonstration at E3 2003, around 16 months before the game launched.
Though that’s not a great indicator of “showing stuff early” given that the entirety of that demo was scrapped in the final game.
