Anyone else finish the campaign and still feel confused?

Spoiler warning.

I haven’t listened to all the logs so maybe some of this got answered but here are my questions:

How did the Banished defeat Cortana and her Guardians?

Master Chief has been to this ring before? Brought Weapon here to kill Cortana but left again? Then why did it seem like Atriox killed Cortana? Why was Weapon left behind but not deleted? Somehow Master Chief and Atriox ended up back out in space fighting after all this?

What was the reformation?

The harbinger was one of the endless?

How was Zeta Halo destroyed? Why?

I would also like to say that I’m disappointed that it seems like everything exciting happened between Halo 5 and Infinite and it feels like we missed all of it. I’m not.a fan of telling all the story off-screen. This game is so anticlimactic in so many ways.

I refuse to believe Cortana is dead lol. I would have to see her being killed to believe it. So many unanswered questions.

Going to answer the ones I know.

Fixing the ring. Yeah the way the harbinger talks about it makes it sound like something bigger. But its just fixing the ring. Its pretty clear from others dialogue.

How’d you miss this? Its pretty clear Cortana blew it up trying to take Atriox with her.

Honestly it feels like weapon just replaced cortana. I was so tired of cortana’s whispers by the end I sure hope she’s dead.

I dunno, I was having trouble following the story in general.

Master Chief has been to this ring before? Brought Weapon here to kill Cortana but left again? Then why did it seem like Atriox killed Cortana? Why was Weapon left behind but not deleted? Somehow Master Chief and Atriox ended up back out in space fighting after all this?

He fought atriox on the ring in that opening video 6 months prior to you gaining control of chief and meeting echo 216

Cortana trying to kill atriox happened after he threw master chief into space

The whole point of Infinite’s story was apparently to reset the bad decisions Halo 4 and 5 made.

Halo 4 made a significant shift in tone by turning the UNSC into a superpower. Halo 4 made the narrative choice to focus on Cortana as Chief’s girlfriend. Halo 5 made the choice to turn Cortana into the main villain.

Everything meaningful that happens in Infinite revolves around undoing those three awful choices. At the end of Infinite, the UNSC is again an underdog, and Chief is back with Cortana who is neither evil nor his girlfriend.

Everything else is either meaningless narrative window dressing (everything with Escherim) or vague undefined sequel bait (Atriox/Harbinger/Endless).

Bringing the story back to the beginning is boring.

It was the best they could’ve made after the bad decisions. They’re lucky that Halo Wars 2 brought Atriox or they wouldn’t even have had a villain that would be able to defeat Cortana and the Chief. I rather have it this confusin way for now than to brute (pun not intended) force the story they started
