Anyone else feel the game quality has degraded?

When i first purchased this a year ago I had virtually no issues with multiplayer. Gameplay was exceptionally crisp and for the most part every death was deserved.

Recently, i’d say about 2-3 months ago playing multiplayer has transitioned to a gamble. With a 100 down and 11 upload connection I am experiencing latency. Sometimes opponents are a full second ahead of where I aim (have verified this through theatre replays). In a game where the slightest misplaced shot grants you death, this has become almost unplayable.

Anyone else experiencing absurd lag issues hindering their play? Also, I would like to add that this problem is absent in MCC.

honestly, i think H5 has been run into the ground with all the nerfs, and matchmaking changes that have been added.

That’s interesting. I’ve been on rural Canadian internet for the past 4 months, which averaged 5 Mbps download (not joking or exaggerating), and I experienced very rare instances of lag.

This has been happening to me as well, I don’t get why bc I have exceptional internet and it worked fine about a month ago.

Maybe just a bit. But I bet it’s from others not so great connection. I saw a couple teleporting players last night.

Op it likely does have to do with other players connection in the game. For some odd reason it can effect the whole gameplay of others. Sometimes I will notice this in a game and everything just seems off. But then all of a sudden the game frees up and plays more consistent or as it should. Then I look quick to find out someone from our team was dropped… Its likely that player was kicked because his or her connection fell out of the allowable range for that particular game. Or also sometimes the servers have a hard time syncing everyone up before the game starts. One thing for sure is the game doesn’t perform as crisp as it once did. But ive noticed things like you have mentioned.

I’ve noticed it for a while. It’s definitely tougher to play now. I find it virtually impossible to get that last headshot for a 5. I used to get 5-6 a game. Now it will take me 8-9 shots to get a kill. My screen shows as hit marks for all 9 shots but they definitely aren’t really registering but I’ll get around a corner after being 3 shot and I’ll get 2 shot around the wall. Pretty bad servers now. I’d like a hybrid system where If the server isn’t reliable it can switch to a host system so you always get the best match. But severs are stagnant so if you don’t live close to one you’re just out of luck if your opponent doesn’t. Simple as that.

I have experienced some lag in the past few games but its not a major problem for me. a host system, in my opinion, would be horrible. i noticed though that sometimes my shots dont seem to register even though it clearly seems like they connected, i have yet to verify this through theater replays though.

I would not take anything from halo 5 theater it is the glitchiest (I think that is a word) theater in all of halo if you watch gameplay from theater you can see where sometimes the reticle won’t be anywhere near the head and it’s a headshot causing some YouTubers to get called out for using aimbot so I wouldn’t take much from theater I experience lag when all of my family is on the Wi-Fi (I have a very big family) but other than that I have a pretty solid connection to halo 5 I have trouble with other games though as far as lag I tend to only lag really bad in battle royale games like fortnite or pubg

I’m finding it unplayable. It has been for months. I let my Xbox Live run out due to the messed up match making never working. But then they said they’d been an update to fix it, so off I went and got another years worth of Xbox Live Gold. Since getting it, it’s let me play 2 days out of 7?,?

I don’t have any issues with consistent lag and there are two people playing in my home at the same time. The only thing i can contribute to peoples lag is distance from server due to a lower population. Personally i live in rural North Dakota and don’t have any issues

Sounds like some need to do hard resets of their Xbox before playing H5. Also used wired connections instead of wifi, especially a WiFi that has other traffic on it.

Yes, I’ve been seeing lag in Arena this week and have been kicked out of a couple firefight games when my internet has been solid. The in-game message is “connection to the server lost.” I play with a wired connection via Comcast with a 60x20Mbps bandwidth.

I second this as I am also on rural Canadian internet. The most common issues I run into is game crashes for various strange reasons.

Yup I’ve had these same issues for about a month now, it’ getting ridiculous, I’m not sure what can be done to fix this but 343 needs to get on it, a game as big as halo 5 should not have these issues this frequently.

You actually have a server pretty close to you.

That’s weird. It’s been the same for me. I haven’t played much, but I still didn’t notice any difference, probably because I have a 4mb/1mb internet.
