Anyone else feel like this game is just really redundant?

I feel like in this game, your ability to actually survive an encounter is really poor, even if you try to play carefully. I have always found living to be fun; I think just running at enemies, maybe getting a kill or two or three, and then dying, over and over and over again, gets really boring and redundant, very quickly.

In this game, the lack of friendly fire (which means enemies can grenade-spam you mid-fight), the astonishingly small radar, and the very long shield recharge delay, make surviving an encounter almost impossible. Even if you win and manage to not get killed in a fight, you can’t see more enemies coming to evade them and get your shield back; you are likely to get hit by grenades even if there are enemies nearby, and your shield takes so long to come back, that even if you avoid both of those problems you’re still likely to get caught without any shield left.

I feel like getting kills, if you just die every time, is the redundant part. Getting kills and surviving is fun; trading or even getting multiple kills and then dying, is meh at best. I want to play the game, not spend half of it staring at my own dead body. It’s surviving a hard situation that makes a play fun; even getting a double kill feels boring if you just die immediately after.

Your ability

You’re talking about your experience here.

While I understand where you’re coming from, I think this is an indication that you’re actions are leading to these developments. Maybe approach things a bit differently, hold back a little bit, draw enemies to you don’t approach them yourself.

Halo allows players various defensive and offensive capabilities. It’s up to you to decide when a defensive strategy should be used and when it’s time to shift to an aggressive offensive one.

Well yeah, if you’re more defensive you will die less and that’s still true. That’s not really what I’m talking about; I’m more referring to situations where I’m in a fight already, whether I waited for them or ran into them aside, and than I win the fight, but there’s no way to avoid getting killed by someone else. It takes longer to start getting your shield back, grenades don’t damage allies, and the radar is dismal; so, where in other games I could’ve been evasive or hidden to get my shield back in time, in this game I die and there’s nothing to be done about it. And yes, I am talking about my experience, that’s what all talking is; I can’t speak for anyone else, that’s why the title is “does anyone else feel like…” because I’m asking.

If not, okay then. Just say no.

Grenade radius and spam, overall dmg of most guns, melee lunge, time to regen shield

All of this gets tweaked we will have a better product immediately

Yeah I’m finding it boring even if I’m in games with pretty decent KDs.

I used to be able to play Halo for long stretches, and when I run out of weeklys I find I’m getting bored rather quickly…

I even played a ton of Halo 4, which lots of people didn’t like.

Play ranked then. There’s friendly fire in there.

People are gonna tell you to git gud but you’re right. In old school halo (which is what people apparently think this game plays like, despite tons of evidence on the contrary) you can survive for a very long time if you play smart, even as a solo player. This game has tons of unavoidable situations.

It’s a combo of the low ttk, the terrible audio, small radar, relatively high movement speed (for the size of the maps), the lack of cover on maps (seriously, this game feels like walking through a hallway is a death sentence), the massive grenade blast radius, the bounciness of grenades, the stupidly easy to use and hard to counter rockets/sword, no friendly fire, the difficulty aiming in tense situations due to aim bugs, the glitchy and inconsistent melee, the difficulty navigating cqc, clamber restricting quick vertical movement, and probably more stuff. It’s just an ADHD shooter and I don’t like that, I think it’s what the kids like though.

Bigger radar, higher ttk, weaker nades, Friendly fire & player colision on

I definitely agree with that, yeah. The shield recharge delay is very long in this game, and the lack of any grenade indicators along with more bounciness and a larger radius has made grenade spam very annoying.

I thought the same at first but after getting that weekly thing done with the 5 kill sprees I don’t think its too bad. For me it was getting in the zone of sticking with my random teammates and holding portions of the map. BTB is my favorite mode and aside from the problems the Hawks can cause its not too hard to stay alive and even sneak a flag or two out.

The radar range is poor, but it also helps you stay hidden. I had to really focus on situational awareness and intuition on where players would typically go. The unorthodox playstyle is always my best.

Also nades are a great defeesive weapon against pursuing enemies. Always have a way out and try to leave a hidden nade.

I would actually agree in BTB, yeah; I have found it’s not so bad, though I definitely still miss the bigger radar. I like when stealth requires you to crouch-walk, so it causes a major speed trade-off, which prevents easy back melees, but overall BTB isn’t as bad.

My biggest issues are in Arena, where it feels like people show up behind me and kill me before I can even turn around, all the time, or I go around a corner and there’s someone waiting there who I had no idea was there in time to avoid getting blown up.

You’re grossly missunderstanding what he’s saying. There is an issue with kill/die in the game because of the poor mechanics. It punishes you for making what would’ve normally been smart decisions because the game allows the opposing team to nade spam you and creep up on you without any notice.

Lol thank you for actually reading my post

Ofcourse. I went through the same exact thing when I criticized the poor bullet registration on MCC. People gave me their stupid “Git gud” crap. Then guess what happened? 343 acknowledged the bullet reg was broken due to the code they built into the game and they ended up having to patch it numerous times. It’s -Yoink!- gamer-bros who don’t understand how this works.

Thank you; yeah I really hope a similar thing comes out in this game, cause the hit registration seems pretty busted still lol

poor game mechanics? he’s expecting to go on killing sprees and get multiple kills and just get away without dying ? I will agree with you that nades get a bit out of hand sometimes but that is their purpose, to hit angles you would otherwise not be able to with gunfire.

Being allowed to throw a grenade through your teammates is a game breaking mechanic. This doesn’t need to be explained further. If you don’t see that, then you never will. Smh

throwing grenades through your teammates? this doesn’t exist. If you’re talking about Casual where there is not friendly fire, then yes, I agree… but I don’t play Casual, I play ranked where there IS friendly fire.

I mean, they could fix the issue by making nades a pick up item instead of starting you with 2 nades every time you spawn. That would solve most of the nade spam problems.
