In literally all the other Halos (not sure about wars) if you started the matchmaking (or campaign or forge) countdown, let it count down to 1 and then canceled it with X, the menu music would fade out. This was useful when I had to check my email between games or look up how to get an achievement on youtube or take a phone call because for some reason the menu music is and has always been ridiculously loud compared to the rest of the game sound. Anyone else ever do this and miss it now in Halo 4?
all other games you could start it and instantly cancel it and you would never hear it again… not this game, something they overlooked… its so annoying

It kinda bummed me out because I tried it the first day the game was out without thinking and realized there is no matchmaking countdown anymore. It just throws you into a search automatically (which is annoying). So I was just now checking my email while in between games and tried it in the campaign menu since that (and all the other game modes except matchmaking for some reason) actually still have the countdown and it didn’t work. Now I have to mute it.

Yes I do this quite often. Just go to a custom game and do the same thing,

That was so vague and irrelevant to the topic at hand I’m not really sure how to respond to it.

That works in Halo 4? I’ve tried it in the campaign lobby and it didn’t work…

I just tried it and it worked on a custom game- but it has to be less than 1 second on the timer, almost 0. Like the screen is almost completely black.
EDIT: On a custom game there can be about a second left and it will work. But it will NOT work with Campaign. This game seems to be inconsistent with this kind of thing but at least that works!
That’s really good to know. Thanks. I’m going to use that all the time from now on.
yep, just wait till ur win percentage is high. You’ll have to spend a whole 5 minutes searching. ur ears will bleed.
yes it is extremely frustrating and part of the reason I don’t play halo 4. Every time I go idle I have to turn off my xbox and too much of a hassle to turn it back on. #firstworldproblems.
Haha. I do tend to think something like "oh, I just suddenly remembered a video I meant to watch or an article I meant to read and I’ll sit in the pre game lobby while I do it. It’s a nice convenience to just being able to jump into a new game when I’m done but in Halo 4 I’ve been turning off my tv or xbox and then either forgetting I’m idling in Halo or not wanting to turn my xbox on for another couple of games and doing something else.
