BLUF: I think I’m just not that into vehicles and vehicle game modes.
This is NOT a “343 haters club” post. We are 7 months in to Halo 5, and I’m still playing a buttload of it. I haven’t played this much Halo since Halo: Reach. But nothing with this particular update has grabbed me.
What will this update have? Based on previous updates, and the wee bit of a teaser, here’s a good guess, and my reasons for feeling “meh”.
New gamemode/map: this will be free, requiring no RP. Will I play whatever it is? Probably a couple of times. Am I excited and expectant? Nope. I’m sure several players will love some kind of “warthog racey thingy”, just not my cup of tea.
New Stuff, requiring RP: armor/helmets/visors/skins/loadout weapons/REQ weapons/REQ vehicles: SHORT Version: Unless there’s a Loadout Magnum with a silencer, pretty much don’t care. LONGER Version: After Memories of Reach, I’m good for armors & helmets, can’t imagine anything else sparking my interest. Been happy on skins for a while. Been real happy with my Loadout weapons for months now, only a Silenced Magnum for Loadout would get me excited. There’s so many cool REQ weapons, some I’ve barely used, and others that I’ve come to rely on (Light of Urs, The Answer, Nornfang, Endgame, etc) I don’t see being replaced by something new at this point. And as far as REQ Vehicles, I just want more of the good ones (ONI Mantis & Scorpion, Hannibal Mantis & Scorpion, & Phaetons), so if there’s even more Warthogs released – whoopty-freakin-doo.
Anybody else kinda feel this way? Now, Warzone Firefight, that’s a WHOLE different story….
I was, but then the teaser just showed a reskinned rocket hog, and the hype fell away. I was expecting crazy (wild) stuff like a forerunner or needler hog
I may be wrong, but shouldn’t there be a new Warzone map? That would definitely make me excited.
Well i hvae a guess what will go wild, the U.I will have more problems than ever :D. But it is more a problem of overflow with req items, at least for me, to many weapons etc. What is a bit missing is team play based vehicles. we only have the hog, every other vehicle is either ego or just transport. We wished for a falcon wich would had served good, or wound it?
Where UNSC meets covenant! Meet the Fuel Rod Hog, the Needle Hog, and, probably the most likely, the Plasma Hog, whose turret looks exactly like a regular warthog turret except it shoots plasma! Troop Transport!(please) GhostHog, a warthog with ghost boost and plasma turret! The list goes on and on. Please 343, use at least one. I would love a Needle Hog.

I would certainly appreciate a new Warzone map, as Warzone is mostly what I play, and why I’m still playing as much as I am. But that will be free, will come with the download , I won’t have to hoard up RP to get it. Nothing requiring RP has showed up yet that makes me go, “Oooo - shiny.” I know we still don’t know much, but I can’t see anything coming out (needing RP) that will get me pumped up much.
To be honest, none of the updates have given me a feeling of sweet, can’t wait.
The Hog Wild teaser was by far the least interesting DLC teaser to me. Oh boy, a yellow Hog and a BR with a Carbine scope. Because we don’t already have the Recon sight, Longshot scope, Sentinel Scope, Classic scope, then the Halo 2 BR… Hell, might as well throw in a Projection BR, CQB BR, and LightRifle scope BR while you’re at it, 343.
I want new wz maps. Other than that I could care less. Except maybe for the number 11 emblem…jk, about the emblem.
Since its a warthog themed update, Id like to see a mythic warthog with faster speed, powerful chain gun and more armor. And what would be better to use than the halo CE warthog!
I hype over every update not for the content but those glorious patch notes

Thats basically the oni already and I think the ce hog would be too op since it can’t be killed.
