Just saw the cross-core teasers and man… im not even talking about the monetization, obviously that sucks, what bugs me is that its already eroded the halo look again. One of the things that had me hyped for this coming up to launch was the return to more 3/reach style halo art after dealing with 343’s weird plastic alien looking spartans for so long. Thats already gone. We have cat ears, devil horns, cyberpunk hologram visors and mohawks, samurai, ww2 soldiers… spartans already dont look like spartans again.
I feel you. I mean, I’m not completely against having more customization options, but i personally dont use things like cyperpunk aesthetics, and like you, have a preference for the traditional spartan look.
What annoys me is the fact that they’ve worked on a whole load of other cosmetics without first properly releasing the original spartan designs - the Reach cosmetics, for example. I think those (also halo 3’s) should be the default available options, and the others can be extra for whoever likes that kinda stuff.
I’ll legitimately be pissed off if they’re only planning to make the other Reach cosmetics available behind a pay wall.
Definitely think that the traditional styles should’ve been the naturally unlockable and the goofy looking crap be what was paywalled
That would be better but id rather them not have the goofy stuff at all. A little is ok, there has always been things like armor effects after all, but i would rather have the game look like halo than have all these irl-inspired armors as well as the goofy stuff.
Nah, I’m not petty… I just have my own personal tastes… But cosmetics don’t effect gameplay at all. It just allows people to personalize their Spartans a little, even if they look hideous to how they want them to look.
Don’t judge a book by the cover ![]()
I think most of all cosmetics in Halo Infinite are just plain ugly and uncreative. Most of them appear to be designed as flashy, shock value stuff and they even put fake rarity types on them to fool the new players and players who are none the wiser.
Infinite’s cosmetics will always be childish and stupid looking because they are trying to pander their cosmetics towards that “broader audience” of teenagers and pre teens.
Tf you mean? Ive played the game, lol. Just because i can set up my guy as a “proper” spartan doesnt stop me from getting put in matches with people loading up on the goofy stuff.
I mean, I suppose I can understand the perspective, but this isn’t really an issue that I resonate with. Some of this stuff is goofy and I’ve more or less just come to accept it.
Well yeah, every armor set that you could unlock I the past you have to pay for now which is really lame and their always like 10 bucks too for basic armor
Is goofy a fact or opinion. I bet you think your opinions are facts don’t ya?
Just wait 8 years when there’ll be 100’s of goofy options.
The state of cosmetics in Infinite is a complete joke.
I really don’t care. Some of the skins look like something from Unreal Tournament! ![]()
I like the more traditional Halo Skins. Spartans and Elites!
Peace!

I always judge things based on their outward appearance… that is why I am far more secure and intelligent and better looking than every one else, and that is a fact! I’m paraphrasing but is this the sentiment the OP was trying to make? I wish life was easy enough to worry about such trivial crap… wait til you get older man, you won’t have time to judge someone else and you’ll just be happy (or disappointed) with the person you’ve become. My advice is to be thankful you have the opportunity to play video games, and the CHOICE to play whichever ones you like
finally, this thread,
i agree with everything, weird ugly plastic anti halo charms, and wt… meownir, thats the very annoying stupid cat ears 2.0 version, a bot even appeared with that name, it has nothing to do with the game and is very abnormal and not unique, and i already laugh when im reading the post again XD because everything is true, especially those fracture armors, a samurai, then a ww 2 soldier ( copy from cod? ) weird mixed blobs which look like they are results of labratory experiments, charms that look like very not xbox or console content but are google images implented
when i look at those weird cores i think where are you from, your not a spartan, and of those eagle strike core are cod copied cores or ww 2 soldiers, NOT spartans, i always stick to my mark vIi armor core, or mark v, and none else
so annoying that cat ears 2.0 meownir… ![]()
I am especially because they implemented the stupidest idea of making it so we cant color spartans the way we want. in addition to coatings not being cross core
also they had crap quality control from the start anything goes anything gets release who cares make a million variants of the same helmet to sell make armor that looks like default armor but sells for loads of points and make things with the smallest differences that you can barely notice to sell more content and so on
I was really happy and excited when I saw the art style for the game before launch and heard about season 1 being heroes of reach because I thought it was a return back to the real Halo look and tbh after launch it started off okay excluding the money making schemes in the store.
The disappointment started when not all of the Reach armor was included in the first season and really there wasn’t that much customization and I think the Tenrai events were cool because it gave off a Hayabusa vibe but to me the season 2 armors aren’t very Halo and I don’t like them and the cross core armor customization does bring in new opportunities but the base armour sets that I want just aren’t there anyway.
There are loads of classic armors they could easily bring into the game that people do want and instead we get stuff that doesn’t look like Halo. I actually regret buying season 2 and wish I’d have waited to see what Season 3 included.
It’s not so much the look of the cosmetics themselves that bug me. Halo 3 had Hayabusa, we’ve had death effects, flaming helmets, playable elites. Those are off the top of my head. I don’t even mind mixing canon artstyles like what MCC used to have when Anvil showed up.
But 343’s insistence that multiplayer is canon flies in the face of all these superfluous cosmetics. Since Halo 4 they have tried to make an excuse for multiplayer to exist instead of just letting it exist.
“Each match is a real spartan training simulations… but you’ll have a cyber punk mohawk, cat ears, crazy colors, WW1 Diesel punk soldiers and samurai from alternate universes running around!” If these were training simulations, wouldn’t you want to have as authentic an experience as possible so soldiers aren’t reliant on these fake items?
Again, I don’t mind the cosmetics themselves, but it has to make sense. In Halo 3 MCC I have the european sword on the back, but that’s because I actually own a sword. I still have to mount it above my monitors. But I have a real life connection to an otherwise contradictory cosmetic. And if I’m a Spartan with an appreciation for history, who in their right mind is going to tell a 7ft tall super soldier you can’t have a medieval longsword on the battlefield as a back-up weapon? It’s not like I’m also wearing medieval armor. Its just the sword. Besides, Bungie era stuff is non-canon anyway. But this is still my own excuse for it, not 343’s. Besides, in-canon people have used horribly out-of-date real weapons “in-canon” before.
343 however, doesn’t have an excuse for this stuff to exist within the game. Yeah its non-canon. Yeah, these brief glimpses into fracture universes are cool. But why are these supposedly non-canon items existing in a place they shouldn’t? Its not like the armors can exist outside of the simulations. Oh wait. They can. We have the seasonal cutscenes and the academy tutorial now that show these non-canon items. So clearly they aren’t just part of the simulation (also why someone would take the time to make fake armor and whole stories behind them for a war simulation is beyond me.)
343 needs to pick a lane. Do they want an authentic “spartan experience” or do they want to have a fun, even if goofy at times, multiplayer? How they have it all set-up currently, they can’t have both.
