Anyone actually going to use Auto Sentry?

In multiplayer I mean. It “almost” seems useless.

  • It’s easy to destroy
  • It alerts the enemy by making sounds
  • It shoots relatively weak shots
  • It appears on radars
  • I believe it turns slow/responds slow (shown in earlier footage)
  • It falls for holograms

If you listened to the bulletin, they really don’t have much praise or pros to give to this AA. It’s lacking value imo. It really only serves as a nuisance, aka a pesky fly or nat … not much else I can say about. It may sound like more complaining to some of y’all, but really what do you guys think?

It’s different story in Campaing or Spops.

Ill be using it, looks fun to have around.

I’ll give it a try at the very least. Seems like a useful distraction to me.

lolno. The best is obviously Pro-Vis. That -Yoink- looks op as hell!

Well, with a automatic weapon I think it could prove fairly useful. I wont go calling useless untill I get to use it.

But who knows, maybe it will be like Reachs hologram :stuck_out_tongue:

Seems like a good distracting tool.

Throw it in a room where you know an enemy is hiding, while it’s taking fire / popping shots at the enemy, jump in and finish them off.

I think it might be useful with practice.

I won’t but I know a lot of guests will… since most of them have no clue on what’s going on around them they’ll need the support.

I guess it’s just good for objective camping.

> * It’s easy to destroy

If they change targets to destroy it, it’s time they aren’t shooting at me that I’ll be using to shoot at them.

> * It alerts the enemy by making sounds

Alright.

> * It shoots relatively weak shots

Given how you spawn with it, and it aims and shoots targets for you, I would expect it to be so. Otherwise it’s OP.

> * It appears on radars

Alright.

> * I believe it turns slow/responds slow (shown in earlier footage)

It’s not invincible. It shouldn’t be.

And it requires some forethought, planning and setup. Team has King Zone, enemy is advancing, set it up and it’s another gun shooting at your advancing enemies, which will make the difference if all else is equal.

> * It falls for holograms

Alright.

  • helps kill a player (every bullet counts)
  • helps defend an objective
  • stalls a player for a few seconds (every second counts)

It’s not designed to kill. It’s designed to help you, mostly by helping you kill people just a few seconds quicker. This will be my primary AA. Yes, it has a few negatives, but IMO the positives outweigh those.

I’m not asking for it to be almighty god on the battlefield, and I was just adding up the cons. Of course they looks like nothing if you pick apart them separately. Imo, cons outweigh pro. The only thing I can see it for is distraction (which I’m sure is hologram’s role).

The only time I see it useful is when you place it in the opposite direction of where the enemy would be facing.

Drop it somewhere, shoot at target, go at another direction, and then shoot them in the butt, or the turret will shoot them in the butt. Either way, it’s extra damage or a distraction. It’ll take a bit of skill and planning to use it correctly. It’s not like the sentry the TF2 engineer can make, so it’ll have to be not be treated as such.

In my eyes, it will be a valuable distraction. I don’t expect it to work on everyone, but I plan on deploying it, hiding in plain sight, and then gaining a few-shot advantage on whoever gets close enough to begin shooting it. It’s not meant to be a killing machine. It’s a diversion.

Same with the Binary Rifle. But people will definetly be rushing for that.

It’ll be a good distraction, adding some support fire in tough situations or holding down tactical places. So, useful in objective games mainly.
I likely won’t brin git into slayer, but when on defense in CTF or something, I can give it a try.

I’ll put down the sentry gun after five kills where it will be dropped in a care package

It will be skillful to use. It’s not there to rack in kills for you. It’s there to support you, weaken and distract enemies.

Hopefully the beef it up a tad from what I’ve seen. I would love to see a team of 8 using it in objective game types. I would try to coordinated a “team activate” once enemies enter the base.

I figured it’d be more of an objective thing. I was interested in using it mainly for objective. Though the videos of it on Exile make it seem like nothing, let alone the Sparkcast’s description of it didn’t grab me that much. I’m not going throw it out the box instantly, but it’s currently last on my list. hologram seem better.

Probably not.

Prob not
