Its range isnt much greater than the BR. Its clip is incapable of killing 3 people unlike the others. The reload animation is slow. Its range is to shy to compete with the dmr.
Please don’t tell me I’m the only one…

As a carbine user, I thought it was fine and good before they updated it. I didn’t think they needed to update it. It’s even better now that they have updated it.
To counter your argument, the primary weapons of Halo 4 are situation. DMR for long, BR and Carbine for mid, and LR for a mix of both. Its really a toss up between whether you want to use the Carbine or BR in the mid range combat. The biggest point here is that the BR is better at killing when it is you vs the other, 1v1. But the Carbine excels when it comes to 2v1 or 2v2 because it constantly hits the shields of the enemy which allows you to “kill steal” as some would call it because instead of the wait between bursts you can keep hitting them.
Also, its range is not supposed to compete with the DMR, that’s the light rifles job.

Are you trolling?
It’s a mid range weapon. It’s supposed to have the same range as the BR, not the DMR, it’s super accurate and how many people do you expect to kill with one magazine? You must be trolling.
Use dexterity if you think the reload isn’t fast enough. It’s range isn’t supposed to compete with the DMR.
I like they Carbine much better than before the update, but I think its range falls slightly behind the BR. Considering that the Carbine still has the huge circle inside the reticle compared to the br.
At a certain range, it just relies on its spread at that point, while the br still has the smaller and more accurately designed reticule at range.
Yes, the Carbine is accurate at mid range, but drops off quicker than the br when the range starts to extend a little more.
The Carbine is amazing

If it has the same range as the BR than what is the point of the carbine? Especially when its killtime fallls short of the BR and is much harder to use. Even whenbefore its update its killtime was faster than the BR and people still thought it was weak but i knew how to use it. Now its not even a viable gun anymore.

The carbine is for 2v1? Laughable. Its clip size and damage are too lackluster compared to the br. The BR is a 3 round burst, 4sk with the capability of killing 3 people with one clip. The carbine is a single shot, 7sk with a clip capacity to barely kill 2 spartans with a slower reload time compared to the other rifles. BR was made for “kill steals”. The carbine is an assist rifle.
The BR isn’t ideal against good player who strafe. The carbines faster kill time works better against strafers. When I strafe against a BR user, they usually only get 2 shots in before they die.
Honestly, I usually get destroyed against Carbine users. I’ve been beaten when using the BR before. The main advantage it has it how much it makes the enemies flinch (probably not the best word, but it’s all I can think of right now) when hit. When getting hit by the Carbine, your aim goes crazy. It doesn’t do that with the BR.
The BR has the advantage in killtime, teamshotting, melee, and combos.
The Carbine has slightly more range.
I would say the Carbine is too weak, and the BR’s killtime should be nerfed down to its level.
Regardless, one useless weapon is a lot better than the arguably three useless ones we had before.
@OP,
If you’re trying to compete with the DMR with a Carbine… Your TV screen may be upside down.
The Carbine is designed for combating strafes, and having incredible stopping power at mid to close ranges. It also takes a bit more skill to use effectively, as you have to line your shots perfectly and quickly.
Trust me, I’m a Carbine user.

The carbine can compete with DMR. If it can’t compete why would they put it in? I have killed dozens of DMR users with the carbine but only at close to mid range. And plus strafing is impossible in this game. Duals in this game are one sided and any attempt to strafe is meaningless with the sheer amount of aim assists and bullet magnetism. Its just that the carbines role in this game is unclear.
The Carbine is still the weaker weapon but is far more reliable being a single firing weapon. The BR 3 burst round is unreliable on a bad host or against a good strafer. The problem with the BR is that you need to be consistent which isn’t for me being British on a game with no dedicated servers. For these reasons, I will use the Carbine over the BR on most occasions.
Before the updates, I was using this gun excessively, non-stop. I was having troubles, but always managed my ways.
After update, I am the worst thing you would want to go against in a FFA when I have it. The Carbine now, I can literally take on more than one user, with me and well placed grenades, one less shot needed, let’s just say the person in front of me is not lasting long. Even without the grenades, they have little chance.
The Carbine was weak back then, but now it’s a beast.

Much greater things can be said about the br and i disagree. The carbine was better than the BR in the right hands. It served the middle ground between close and mid. Now that the BR dominates both while the DMR and LR dominate long range, there is no purpose for a carbine.

I still don’t think you understand the purpose of this weapon. The advantage that the Carbine has over the BR is that it’s projectiles are not confined in 3-Round Bursts, making it easy to out-strafe the BR user.
The Carbine is also very effective with Frag Grenades, because all you have to do is toss the Frag and then pop a headshot faster than your opponent can blink.
It also requires skill to use, unlike everything else in this game.
> The Carbine is also very effective with Frag Grenades, because all you have to do is toss the Frag and then pop a headshot faster than your opponent can blink.
I don’t get this argument at all.
Assuming no shields, both weapons are theoretically equal at finishing targets off. The BR is better because if you miss the first bullet you have two more.
Both weapons fire the instant you pull the trigger, the Carbine doesn’t have any magical advantage there.
Assuming some shield left, the BR will bleedthrough and kill anyways while the Carbine will not.
The Battle Rifle is vastly superior to the Carbine when paired with a frag grenade for various reasons.
I’d actually have to say it has to do if you do well with it or not, give a carbine user a carbine and they’ll do well, give a BR user a BR and they’ll do well, etc,

Thank you for pointing out many more reasons for why I love the Carbine.
Also, if you couldn’t tell, OP, it can literally can beat any of the precision weapons with the TU update. Statistics do not speak for you, you have to literally use the gun itself in order for you to know. Just like most of the weapons, you have to learn how to use them. Seeing your reply, OP, I can already assume that you’ve had not encountered some of the excellent users of the Carbine.
^^Also what Spartan is saying is true.
Carbine is a show stopper, chances are if a carbine user gets the first shot off he’s going to win, and any time I go toe-to-toe with a carbine user and I’m using a BR and win the fight I’m usually always one-shot. Just about being in a good situation. A carbine ambush will out class just about anything short of a power weapon.
