Any1 else upset that H R had no legendary ending?

Before I start, the original topic title was gonna be “Was anyone else disappointed that Halo Reach had no legendary ending?” but that was way too long.

I finished Halo: Reach on legendary for the first time and was surprised that there was no special ending for beating the game on legendary, like how the other games had it. I was digging around on Halo Alpha (Fandom) and found that the Legendary ending on this level was supposed to depict an eagle landing on Six’s helmet, but was cut out of the final game and that on Legendary, explosions occur in the background and get closer, but apart from that there is nothing else special. Was anyone else disappointed, shocked, or sad that Bungie made the decision to not include a legendary ending?

It was strange/disappointing to see since it was breaking the trend of the previous games. Also, I didn’t know about that cut legendary ending! That sounds really sweet

Well, Halo 2 doesn’t have a legendary ending, if I remember correctly; the scene with Cortana and the Gravemind happens on all difficulties of the game, so it doesn’t really bother me that Halo: Reach doesn’t have one.

A legendary ending usually reveals something (343 Guilty Spark still alive at the end of Halo: Combat Evolved; Requiem at the end of Halo 3; the Prophet of Truth overseeing the dig in Halo 3: ODST; and a partial look the the Master Chief’s face in Halo 4). With Halo: Reach, there was really nothing left to reveal as we knew what was going to happen and it was the final Halo game from Bungie.

Probably shoulda put a spoiler warning on that last part

Not really. It made sense. The Legendary ending typically showed something about the future of the series, and since Bungie was no longer in charge, they didn’t have a say. They intended Reach to be their final game, and a tribute to all of Halo. As such, the Tribute Room was a fantastic addition to the game.

It has been nineteen years since Halo: Combat Evolved, thirteen since Halo 3, eleven since Halo 3: ODST, and eight since Halo 4. And Halo: The Master Chief Collection came out six years ago. If they were games released a few days ago, I would have done, or if they held some big shocking blow-your-mind reveal/plot twist.

I am sure a forum monitor will edit my post if they deem it necessary :slightly_smiling_face:

That’s odd. I definitely recall seeing the “Cortana-Gravemind scene” being played on Normal on the original Halo 2. I know because I never completed it on Legendary.

The “alright, shoot” scene definitely happens on every difficulty on the MCC, I have only played it on normal but remember seeing it. I’m not sure about on the original Halo 2.
