I’m asking about 2 people on the same Xbox playing in an online multiplayer lobby, using split screen on their console.
Have there been any news about this? Everything I’ve heard so far is too vague to apply specifically to online multiplayer. I know that split-screen will be present in Halo Infinite, but it’s not clear whether this will be restricted to campaign and LOCAL multiplayer matches. Have there been any announcements that would confirm this?
Why would it ever be restricted to local multiplayer? I don’t think a single Halo game has ever restricted split screen from online multiplayer (outside of ranked playlists). Maybe they could restrict split screen to players who bought the game, but split screen isn’t a huge selling point nowadays I don’t see why they would.

I think that many companies have excluded the feature because of hardware limitations. They choose “next-gen graphics” over split-screen multiplayer. Plus, they excluded split-screen completely from Halo 5, so I’m not optimistic that it will fully return in the new game. Earlier Halo games had split-screen everywhere, but newer games are so resource-heavy that it becomes a challenge to run the game for two separate players on the same hardware. At least, that’s how I understand the decisions of developers who have phased out split-screen over time. I really do hope Halo Infinite includes it for online, though.

Campaign is the more hardware intensive mode, it would be easier to run it in multiplayer. 343 has been adamant that split screen is returning, I see no reason to believe it will be excluded from multiplayer due to hardware constraints.
I’m so confused. What happened to split screen? I can’t do it anymore?
Edit: I thought this was for mcc lol
I don’t remember where I saw it. But I know Halo: Infinite will support four-player split screen. Considering you can do this in multiplayer for MCC, I am sure it includes multiplayer for Infinite. You would just have usernames like this (using mine as an example:)
P1: HaloBungie343I
P2: HaloBungie343I (2)
P3: HaloBungie343I (3)
P4: HaloBungie343I (4)
Unfortunately for me, I won’t need this feature until I grab another girlfriend or my nephew gets a little older. He just turned 2 today. I think that is still a little too young to start video games.
