Any word on H4 audio getting turned down?

Apologies if this has already been stated, I did a search and couldn’t find any threads on this.

The Halo 4 audio is so loud, fans cannot hear team chat in user-captured video. If you see a comparison of the Halo 4 audio levels to the Halo:REACH audio levels, it becomes very clear that Halo 4 is extremely loud. It completely drowns out most people during gameplay in video capture, and prevents others from enjoying the banter that occurs during gamenights, scrimmages, etc.

I have seen complaints on this all over the web, so I assume I’m not the first to bring it up here, are there any plans to turn down the volume?

I don’t have any problems as I have a headset that lets me toggle the game volume and the chat volume.

I’m not referring to in-game chat, I’m referring to capturing video, which happens at a set level regardless of how high you have your headset volume.

I know what you mean.

You could go to the dashboard(or bring up the dashboard), Preferences, I think it was Voice or something, and then change the game and mic volume.

When someone talks, the game volume will drop(depending how low you set it).

here what you do, put a cd into your xbox, copy a song to your HDD, then after you start halo 4, go to the music player and start the music and then pause it.

gets rid of all in game music, including that HORRIBLE droning noise when you are just ditting in a lobby with friends. i could play halo 4 with out doing this.

I don’t have this issue and I use a surround sound system.

Apologies. I don’t think I’ve been clear on what the actual problem is. It is not the game music, and changing the game volume in preferences only works for chat.

DSight, do you capture video? I am speaking of the volume of team chat alongside game sounds during a game on a recording. I hear people just fine over my headset and it has absolutely nothing to do with what stereo system you have. It’s how people sound on YouTube who are in your game with you when you capture the game and watch the video.

Halo 4’s sound is off the charts in comparison to Halo:REACH, and this issue is known to everyone who captures video and puts it on YouTube. The sound is so loud it drowns out your friends laughing and talking and doing callouts and you cannot hear them over it.

Please note, a flash drive with a crap ton of songs works too. Be careful of your song’s memory size though. It can take forever. Just make sure it’s 7mb or less. Anything higher than 20mb you might as well grab a beer.

I’ve been doing the exact same thing everytime i boot up Halo 4 lol, and i was so happy when i first learned this trick.

You can just go into preferences and reduce the game volume over voice volume.

I’ve done this before when I did a test recording and I heard the voices perfect. I was also doing the test in SpartanOps so it’s loud in sound effects, music and voice. But by reducing the game volume the voice can be heard over the volume in game.

This is not correct. I am looking for a real solution here, please stick to the topic. I tried reducing the game volume in preferences and it does not work in custom games nor does it work in matchmaking.

I joined in a community game night last night and captured the entire thing. The game volume is so loud, you cannot hear people talking during the game at all. Once they are in the lobby again you have to turn up the volume on the video, but once the game starts it’s so loud you have to turn the volume back down again.

There should be more balance.

Does anybody know a way I can record the voices of people in game and separate it from the in-game noise so I can balance it better?

Can you record the headset-out from the controller?

If I remember correctly the audio through the controller/headset combo is isolated to voice only. In post you can then set the voice-audio and game-audio to whatever levels you want.

I don’t know how this would be possible, maybe with some sort of splitter coming out of the controller? But it wouldn’t be necessary if the game volumes were set at levels that are consistent with Microsoft’s own default headset

We’ve been urged to come here and give feedback, I just wasn’t sure where to post this.
