Any word on collision and outlines?

“Bright blue and a bright light are different uses of the word ‘bright’”
I don’t think they are. I’m intending to use them in the same way. I don’t agree that a bright blue guy is harder to see than a dark colored guy with a bright outline. I think they are about the same, base don my experience.

“Good, so why do you want them covered in bright light of the colour chosen by whoever is looking at you.”
a necessary consequence of having shields, and a not so consequential one. In every halo the enemy becomes big ball of light due to having an energy shield. The color still shows and it’s mostly about me seeing myself and my teammates but you still very much see your enemies.

Change the enemy outline to bright yellow

But yeah I miss team colours

  1. You’re in a dark room and someone turns a light on. “That light’s bright”

  2. What colour was that car? “It was bright red”

The second example is not a light emitting car, they are different.

The bright outlines are example 1

The bright blue armour is example 2

Your second point - no other halo has been covered in bright coloured light for shields, they are a mild yellow electric effect that is not a solid light emitting colour that covers the whole body

Yeah I think the outlines are a neat idea, but I really REALLY wish you could just force override either team’s armor coatings.

@343 this makes it really hard to differentiate between enemies and allies, especially for the visually impaired. If I set the enemy outlines to yellow and an ally uses a yellow coating, it’s easy to mix them up and think they’re an enemy; same works the other way. So there needs to be a UI option to override at least enemy armor coatings, if not both, so that they match the outline color. That way it’s very simple; yellow = enemy, always.

Oh okay, I see what you’re saying now with the color and brightness. I didn’t understand before.
I would still say they are pretty comparable because I feel I am seeing people just easily when I play Halo 4 or reach as when I play Infinite. That’s just my experience though.

Second point - I don’t know about every halo but in Halo 3, reach, and 4 it is definitely the case that enemies become big balls of light, as you describe them. Maybe not as extreme in the case of halo 3 but still obvious.

When you’re giving feedback to a dev, literally zero people care about whether or not you “can see just fine without outlines.”

My mind is boggled. This may be the stupidest reason for not playing a video game.

And now we have the worst opinion I’ve read this week.

Anywho I hope they don’t change the outlines so that you have to quit the game.

EDIT: Also, why are you still playing the game? Literally last week you were complaining about wanting to go back to MCC. You’re stil here and you’re still complaining about leaving Halo Infinite.

Just leave, my guy.

Outlines are bad and we’re never needed. There is a reason why Halo 3 did so great. Because it didn’t cater to the masses. It was just a great game

Then leave. Go play Halo 3. This is the umpteenth topic you’ve made where you pine for the glory days of ancient video games.

“Sounds a lot like ‘go play MCC’”
“I guess I’m gonna have to drop Halo then”
“If outlines don’t go away I won’t be playing Halo in the future”

It’s like watching a child bluffing over and over and they never actually do anything. As the old saying goes, crap or get off the pot.

It’s pretty clear that I’m holding out on some kind of answers. I expect there to be hard answers after a year or two. I’ll give it some time like I gave Halo 5 some time and Halo 5 didn’t disappoint. Hopefully they follow the same route again and fix it like it’s supposed to be fixed.

Also. Doesn’t matter how you feel about my opinions. That’s what this fourm is for. To discuss Halo infinite. If everyone took your advice this fourm would be empty

Yah outlines probably won’t go away because then they’d have to stop selling their cosmetics and revamp their own greedy approach to this game. I do wish they had more settings so I could turn off the cosmetics and use the classic Red vs Blue system but no. No… they want to force it down your throat and limit settings of course, allowing us to turn off cosmetics and revert back to RvB might incline some users to think about real Halo. Starting to notice that when teammates have bright color armour I mistake them for enemies because at a split thought I will start to turn their way. Of course, this has caused me to get killed or lose gun fights… so annoying.

The only people I tell to leave are the ones that say over and over “I’d rather be playing Halo 5/4/3/MCC/CE/2”

You’re gonna play a game for a year or two that you say is “boring” and you “only play it when you’re bored”?

The problem is that you want really bizarre fixes. This is the first time I’m even hearing of someone raging about outlines being present in the game. You actually have a point about collision because that directly impacts gameplay. But outlines is such a weird hill to die on.

Actually the outline was reduced from the flights because of so much backlash. The whole reason they took this approach was to work around their cosmetics and micros. Well at least until they say otherwise but I’m sure they’d reply with some corporate run around. Sorry I have to delete my post because even the forums are broken on PC ( like Halo Infinite) and my Edit has disappeared.

I’m not familiar with what the outlines looked like during the flights, but I’m going to assume they’re much improved because I can’t remember running across anyone else talking about outlines until now.

Plenty of people complained about the outlines. And it’s a video game. I’m looking at it. I don’t want to waste time on something I don’t want to look at. Sure it’s a minor inconvenience and yes I could live with it but that doesn’t mean it’s not extremely annoying especially after playing all the other halos before it in a different way

Lol back in the Halo PC days we used to mod our textures to make the armor stand out more. We also used to have our own custom crosshairs and stuff was awesome. People just don’t understand where we came from and this BS is all they know from modern devs. I remember the first time I laid eyes on BF3-4 settings on console I was blown away, I had never seen such abundant settings on a console game before. Yet here we are…

Except you do waste time. You’re still playing it today. I’m asking you to stop wasting your time on a game that you only complain about.

There should always be more options.

Collision needs to be back. Outlines I’m okay with if there’s an option for people to go back to traditional red and blue.

But ultimately I don’t think Outlines are that bad. It’s just not fun to get instantly lasered when you spawn cos Red stands out in the backdrop while the enemy Blue can camoflauge right into the background on BTB maps.

I’m pleased you finally understand the difference between bright light and a bright colour but now you seem confused between being covered in light and a lightning effect :joy:

They do not become big balls of light in previous titles. They are covered in a MILD lightning/electric effect as i mentioned here

AND that only becomes visible as the shields are attacked.

AND only fully glows when the shields have fully popped.

WHEREAS in Infinite they glow when shot by one AR bullet immediately.

If you’re still confused, feel free to watch this painful dragged out video BUT note the infinite shields shown are campaign trailer NOT multiplayer so ignore those
