The music from the original trilogy did such a wonderful job of setting tone and really represents a decade of gaming to me.
I know they have a new composer (the Halo 1-3 composer is working on destiny), but could 343 at least mix the old and new music together? New trilogy or not, not having the Halo theme music in the game is like not having the Indiana Jones theme if they were to make additional installments of that franchise.
The music for Spartan Assault was close to original. That’s the direction they should have pursued.
I peronally love Halo 4’s soundtrack, but I have to admit that it is purely incidental that I do.
Putting aside my own personal bias, I believe that the soundtracks should be identifiable as Halo soundtracks (with innovations).
In exactly the same way that the game itself should be.
I have listened to parts of the Spartan Assault soundtrack (I’m yet to hear it all) and as Ramir3z77 has pointed out, it is a lot closer to sounding like the original Halo soundtracks.
Let’s hope that Halo 5 sounds like more of a mix of old and new, as opposed to almost entirely new.

More or less this. I mean, when Chief gets to the Didact’s cryptum is an example of a perfect time to play some of the new score. But the gauntlet run in your broadsword would have been a perfect time to queue up the old bombastic theme (I could have maybe forgiven how difficult it was to identify objects in that monochrome environment)
