Any tips to get better?

I started playing Halo with the MCC May 2015, and I’m really not that great at playing the series. I’ve tried lowering my sensitivity, and that helps a bit, but I still manage to get the most deaths of everyone on my team. Sometimes I get a good amount of kills, but my KD is still really low. If you guys have any tips that could help me out, that’d be great. Thanks!

If you want lower deaths you need to learn to use your surroundings to your advantage. Practice thrusting behind walls and such. Stay close to your team and don’t stray off by yourself. Learn to shoot an enemy and duck behind cover before you die and let your team mate finish it. You might not get the kill but at least you won’t be giving the other team a kill either. Also, swat helps with aim. If your aim gets better, you’re more likely to win a one on one match. Practice, practice, practice. Know the map, know how to evade the enemy. Sometimes you can go around things and jump around and avoid damage long enough for your shields to recharge. Move a lot, don’t just stay in one place because then you’re an easy target.

Practice makes master my friend.

But if you want help in game send a msg

learn to strafe it is extremely important

Thanks guys. I’ve done enough Free-for-Alls to rank from gold to platinum, and I’m starting to slowly get better. Strafing is really helpful, thanks Chadhawk. I also did some swat to help a bit with aiming. I’m always checking the scoreboard to see how many deaths I have, and I’m starting to get better K/Ds. Not amazing, but still positive.

If you get better at strafing, boost evasion, and general map awareness then you should work on grenades. Throwing grenades at the right time and place has been key to being good at Halo ever since the first one. Any great Halo player will also be great at throwing grenades. Learn to toss one behind you if you’re being chased. I can’t count the number of times I’ve gotten a reversal because of smart grenade throwing.

Don’t die with unused grenades. Throw them every chance you get. You can even use them to ‘force’ someone to change direction, example: You and an enemy are in an open space, toss a grenade to the left, he goes right to avoid it.

Here’s how I play the game:

  • Don’t go head first into every gunfight keep your enemy at range and force them to come to you. - Always try to get the first shots into your enemy - these can decide the outcome of the gunfight. - Do not be afraid to hide in a corner every once in awhile, this can help you get the jump on your enemy.
