especially on how to fight promethean knights?
I find these knight ultra frustrating as they always “beam out” the second I strip their shield, and when they beam back somewhere else their shield is already fully regenerated.
is there any tricks on fighting them I’ve been missing or is there any way to kinda interrupt that “beam out” process?
You just need to be fast. Personally, I usually clear all the other enemies first before the Knights. You definitely shouldn’t leave any Watchers or Crawlers hanging around. When all you have are a couple of knights, you only need a headshot capable weapon and a plasma pistol. Give an overcharged plasma pistol shot and then start shooting in the head while not letting the Knight escape always works. If you don’t have a plasma pistol, automatics are also very good. If you have any power weapon around, they will also most definitely work.
But whatever you do, engaging a Knight at long range with BR, DMR, LR, or a Carbine is the last thing you should do. That only wastes you ammo. As a general rule of thumb for any Halo Legendary campaign: plasma pistol and headshot capable weapon is the best weapon combination you can have. Aside from a few exceptions, that combo can handle anything at ease.
Ever watch the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode, Buffy vs Dracula?
In that episode, Dracula would turn into mist when fighting Buffy.
She defeats him by predicting where his mist form will appear and putting a stake through it
It’s tough, but predicting where the Promethean Knights are going to teleport will go a long way in helping you defeat them.
They usually have set locations on where they go (from what I’ve noticed), so sprinting there with an automatic or shotgun / Scattershot will wipe them out easily.
It seems suicidal, but CQC against the Knights is the way to go. The Plasma Pistol overcharge works well on them, too. Do that, then use a precision weapon to take them out. Use this tactic for the Scattershot Knights.
Clear all other enemies, including watchers, before the Knights
If possible, use a Scattershot or Shotgun if you are able to get close enough
Charge a Boltshot and use the burst and then melee
Run-and-gun with a supressor and melee if space permits (usually only viable if only 1 or 2 Knights present)
Light Rifles can be ok, but not the best option
DO NOT USE UNSC WEAPONS except Shotguns or Rocket Launchers
Just experiment. They really aren’t that bad once you get a groove with a particular weapon… you’ll find you are comfortable with some, not so much with others.
I am a bit random how i go about dealing with Knights but i’ve managed to complete Legendary twice already (once for CO-OP and just got done with solo Legendary). Knights are brutal, especially towards the end of the game but this is how i handle them.
Kill the Watchers first and Crawlers too. Now on to the good stuff.
Regular Knights: Plasma Pistols aren’t always going to be around but the Suppressor just owns them (and other Knights too). If you have a LR/DMR/BR/Magnum, use that right after for a quick headshot. Or you can just keep using the Suppressor, then follow up on a Melee for a kill.
Lancers: Watch out for their Super-Sayian teleport. They do it when their shields are weak. When you see them getting ready, move to the side and they will miss. This will be your opportunity to kill them but be quick or they’ll teleport right back with some shields. They usually have LRs but some of them like to use Binary Rifles, so stick to cover and pop out after they shoot or else have fun loading check points. Take out the Auto-Sentry, it’s quite annoyance (do this whenever you see ANY Knight class deploy them).
Battlewagons: More trickier to deal with because they can take quite a few hits, have Promethean Vision, and have a Scattershot. Their AI loves to close the gap and kill you. Use this to your advantage and flank whenever you can or keep them at a distance with a LR. If you are incredibly ballsy like me, taking them on with a shotgun or automatic of your own will work too (even on Legendary).
Commanders: 343 makes it sound like the Battlewagons are the ultimate Knight but this not the case. Commanders are even rarer and carry around the mighty Incinerator Cannon (sometimes other weapons), not to mention they use Promethean Vision AND deploy Auto Sentries. You are guaranteed to die at least more than once when you run through Legendary. The best way to beat these guys is keep your distance and use ranged weaponry to take them down. It’s really risky to take them on a full frontal assault because they have insane accuracy with the IC and it travels really fast too.
Notes: Throwing a Pulse Grenade at them will stun them and do some damage to the shields. You can also use the Needler when available. This will be rather valuable taking on the Lancers with Binary Rifles on the third level (Forerunner) but otherwise, same tactics. Don’t forget about using the Scattershot; it’s the bane of the Knight’s existence. A bit trickier to use around Battlewagons and i don’t recommend using them against Commanders.
Oh yeah, one more thing that the Commander can do that is a further deterent to engage at CQC. Unlike the other Knights, if you try to get close to a Commander, what it will do sometimes is use this area of effect attack to knock you back and drop your shields. At this point, you’re pretty much dead. You can tell when it does it when he sorta “flies” up into the air before shortly touching the ground again. Oh and the fact that you can’t move forward for second or two, it sucks lol.
It happened to me on Shutdown last night (it wasn’t the only case but the most recent one). The Commander was using a LR, used the attack and killed me shortly after lol.
So yeah, keep you’re distance LR amoo is VERY common when the Prometheans come into play in the levels. Don’t get too conservative and just snipe these Commanders with LR from affar.
I will usually break the shield on knights and then waste a few shots going for there head, it is small. The auto-sentry is a beast, I don’t know how much damage it can take but the important thing is that it draws fire away from you. The area of affect attack hasn’t happened to me yet so just be careful.
have one rifle, either a BR, Carbine, DMR, or Light Rifle to shoot normal nights from a range, rifles are also good for one shotting crawlers and taking out those pesky floaty things even after they start to fly away, as well as being able to one shot jackals, grunts, and a similar approach to stipping elites shields and hitting them once in the head.
As for your second weapon, hold onto some sort of power weapon in dealing with the trickier knights, specifically the scattershot brutes and cannon chieftans. A good example is on the last level i used the light rifle to clean up the floaty things, then crawlers, and then the suppressor and light rifle knights, then i had saved an incineration cannon for the scattershot and cannon knights. Worked out pretty good and easy, just had to take my time with the normal knights as to not provoke the more powerful two.
Other ideas for weapons, covenant weapons in general (except for the carbine) are great for stripping shields mainly storm rifles and plasma pistols, as well as the needler, which shreds knights in general.
For knights, take down their shield and either shoot them in the face three times, or punch them twice. For the rest of the game: move slow, become friends with the pp, and DONT RUSH.
The needler is great when you have one at your disposal. I usually only resort to headshots if I know there’s plenty of ammo around. The scattershot works good at close range but I’d suggest taking out all other enemy’s before you engage. CQC is risky but very rewarding. Obviously if you have a power weapon at your disposal they are the safest and most efficient but again try to save those for the Commander type knights. Other then that you just have to work it. Use nades. Don’t keep doing the same thing over and over. Change your approach if a certain tactic keeps leaving you dead. Also, I have found that when the knights phase out they will usually move backwards and behind cover so be familiar with there surroundings and try to anticipate there movement, they likely won’t be far from where you initially engaged them.

I found that DMRs were really good against knights.
But yeah, find a scattershot. Those really help against knights. Plasma pistol + headshot is also good.
Patience and take it slow. The knights are very annoying to kill and usually we get just pissed at ourselves and start rushing it.
I did mine some on solo and mostly on co-op, didnt take long but was really annoying. My friend was dieing most of the time so its as good as solo anyways, he was rather good at being a meatshield or distraction for the bullets & bombs though…
Use that flying sentry, or whatever is the name of that flying thing that supports you shooting at enemies and distracting then. Try to shoot with that and when shield is gone just rush using assault rifle or dmr/br.
The best tip I can give anyone that is dealing with knights teleporting is this, when he begins to teleport, that little ball you see will project a line/arrow telling you where the knight is going, if you dont see the arrow, that means he teleported ahead of you, behind cover, or hes right behind you, in which case your screwed.
