Any tips for getting better at playing Infinite on the Steam Deck?

Yeah… I know this is a weird question to ask, but I’m calling out to any Steam Deck players who lurk in these forums.

My Deck just arrived yesterday, and Halo Infinite was among the first few games I installed. It runs amazingly! I’m able to play on medium-high settings and hit a consistent 50-60fps. With that being said, I’m struggling to play the game in a different way. It feels awkward playing Halo on something other than a huge screen. Is it normal for to to be like that at first, or are there some pointers y’all can give me to help improve the experience?

I guess my question just boils down to whether it’ll take time to adjust to playing on a different form factor, or if there’s something I’m doing wrong. I’m not an HCS wannabe by any means, but I consider myself to be relatively decent at the game whenever I play on my Series X. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The simply answer is…you don’t.

Curious, though. Do you get the red reticle and aim assist? Just wondering if the AA is tuned to be stronger on the deck than using a roller on console/PC.

There’s no red reticle, unfortunately. As far as aim assist goes, I can’t say for sure—I normally keep it turned off. I’ll switch it on in the settings later tonight to test that out, though!

Thanks for reminding me about the PC red reticle debacle from awhile back. I think that might be what’s tripping me up.

There were some topics on the steam forums I believe at one point about how to get it running well. But it’s probably buried behind all the garbage posts that place gets by now sadly.

There is no option to turn AA off in Halo. It’s on by default when using a controller.

Oh, word? I could’ve sworn I was able to turn AA off. I’ll have to double-check. I know for sure I can do it in MCC, but I must be wrong about Infinite.

Although these players are using a controller, aim assist is disabled.
Please you should active AA like old halo
