I’ve been experimenting with Reshade to try and make halo look how I remember it looking back when I was like 13 but man the bloom is just insane. It looks like vasoline has been smeared all over my helmet. Anyone have any tricks to dampen this a little? I’ve been using the FilmicPass effect to some effect but -Yoink!- it’s just insane how much bloom there is all over Halo games that I don’t remember
About to say something really dumb.
Their is bloom in Halo 3?
I thought its just spray patterns.

I think OP is referring to something else when they are using the term “Bloom”. I thought the same as you, but since there isn’t any bloom in H3, it must be some sort of graphical term in this context.
Are you referring to the weapon recoil? I’m not sure if there is a way to turn that off in custom games or not
OP is referring to the graphical effect called bloom. (For what it’s worth, I’ve never seen weapon spread referred to as “bloom” outside of the Halo community).
That said, I’m afraid I don’t have any tips OP, but hopefully with that cleared up there might be someone else that has some ideas.
Can’t say I really considered how much bloom there is in H3, but I there is no setting that will allow you to change that as far as I’m aware.
Is it really that noticeable though? Not a rhetorical question.

Bloom is a graphical effect, sometimes referred to as glow. It’s basically light-bleed. Like when you look at a fire and there’s an orange glow around it

Probably not to most people, but to me it just makes the game look kind of hazy and the light bleed is blinding sometimes.

Yep, that’s the one. I was trying to find anything about this online and all I found were people talking about the reticle bloom implemented in Reach. So far the only real solution is to just blast reshade settings until it looks richer and less hazy but I haven’t found a super solid solution that doesn’t sacrifice the overall look of the game
I’d ask for a video to what you’re talking about but I guess I’m not going to be able to see one if you can’t find anything on it. Have you looked towards the modding community and Assembly?

It’s something you can see just playing Halo 3. I can make a video regarding ReShade/Nvidia Filters to show what I’ve done to fix it partially but it’s not an issue for most people. I just think that it would look better if it wasn’t so bloomy. I should probably get an HDR monitor as I’ve heard that can help a lot. I would say the worst offender by far is H2A. You can’t see anything with how much the light bleeds and the contrast is just completely blown out in a lot of maps
