I have played all previous Halos and I have finally ordered Halo 4 which should be coming tomorrow if I’m lucky! So I was wondering a few things.
Firstly does anyone still even play this game as I know its getting old now!
And what game-types would everyone recommend giving a try first. Also are there any special armors to unlock like the recon you got on halo 3 for completing the Vid master achievements?

It’s still Halo (no matter what the haters say). I suggest getting familiar with the campaign and completing it on legendary for the Mark VI armor. If you buy the Championship Bundle or Infinity Armor Pack you get the Mark V (my favorite) and ODST, but that’s extra money. Most of the armor unlocks as you progress.
I’d look into Waypoint codes (Halo Anniversary terminals … just Google “Waypoint codes”)
I would suggest playing a few chapters of Spartan Ops to rack up some XP … that way, you can rank up a bit, unlock some armor, build a couple of decent loadouts, then head over to Team Infinity Slayer where the cool kids hang out and shoot each other in the face to death.

Don’t buy any of the DLC as you wont be able to play it anyways and if you value halo as a franchise use H4 as a frizbee instead of putting it in your xbox.

Play the campaign it’s not too bad, but you might have to go to waypoint to fill in some blanks in the story unless you know the books which is my biggest grip with the campaign. I shouldn’t have to go to waypoint to be able to understand the story.
The online is…different to put it kindly. If your a fan of COD,BF etc games where you unlock guns, powers, level up etc and where everyone doesn’t start equal then you might like it.
But if your a fan of arena style FPS like how quake, unreal, Halo 1,2,3 then I don’t think you’ll like it that much.
At times the online “sort of” feels like halo, but other times that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Hmmm, play Spartan ops and tell us what you think of it. I’m curious.

First of all, like any Halo game, there is always players…and Halo 4 has a huge population despite the releases of Xbox one and all its launch titles people still populate the game well.
And just like every halo game again, you have to get used to it after a playing a different Halo title, my favorite playlists have always been Big team battle, flood and Team slayer/SWAT.
You will unlock a ton of armour as you rank up, also the DLC armour is worth getting and the weapon skin DLC…but unfortunately the map DLC is pointless now since we dont get to play it in matchmaking.
you will not regret Halo 4, it takes a while to get used to if you’ve been playing the previous titles, but you will become pro pretty fast lel
What Halo 4 is worth in the stores now is really what Halo 4 was worth at launch, so more than likely you’ve payed the right price.
The multiplayer has certainly improved, but you’ve come at a weak time in Halo 4’s lifecycle. If you jump into war games you’ll probably spending most of your time in BTB and Infinity Slayer.
Across the board Halo 4’s gametypes, or lack thereof, are a disappointment. However, if you’re into objective I still recommend KoTH. (I think it still shows up in BTB)
Also I highly advise you to NOT buy any DLC whatsoever if your intentions are to be able to play them in matchmaking. DLC games are next to non existent. I’ve been a map pass holder since day one I’ve barely played DLC outside of their release playlists.
You should save yourself the 25 dollars or so until 343 get their act together and talk more about a DLC only playlist.
Judging by this i don’t think ill be getting any of the DLC maps! haha! People are saying about different load-outs? Please tell me you don’t have to unlock new guns and all that stuff like COD?! Fighting over the weapon spawns was one of my favorite things about Halo!
And the vehicles? Are there any new ones or the same old Warthog, Wraithes and all that jazz?

Yeah, you have to unlock the weapons, but luckily they unlock fairly quickly. Use the BR as your primary and get the boltshot as your secondary. The boltshot is a one hit kill at close range when you charge it up. The only new vehicle is the mantis, it’s like a mech and it has recharging shields.
Also the matchmaking system is pretty bad. If you’re winning all of your individual battles and controlling all the power weapons, don’t think it will be an easy win. Often times you will get teammates who go -10 or -20. So if you are destroying the enemy team, never let up, going +15 might not be enough.

Also use the battle rifle.
It’s a 4 shot kill.
If you get the Halo 4 Steel Skin Pack, or the Halo 4 Champions Bundle, you don’t have to wait to unlock any loadout weapons, you can start out with the BR/bolt shot as a SR1, instead of waiting to unlock them.
if you buy DLC, just Buy the Champions Bundle.

Having the fastest killtime does not make a gun the “easiest to use.” I think the DMR is the easiest to use because of its range and accuracy within the reticle (i.e. magnetism). In contrast, the BR has a huge random spread within the reticle (i.e. not magnetism), especially when outside of its red reticle range (which is also fairly short).
