Any thoughts on weapon merchandise?

Lately, I’ve thought a lot about the dart/gel/airsoft guns we’ve gotten so far that are based off of Halo’s established weapon sandbox. But I wonder if… now that we’ve got PC ports and Halo Infinite on the way, will we get more of those? What are the odds of Nerf forming a partnership with the Halo team to make a line of weapon merchandise? Or perhaps another American company aside from Boomco, one responsible for gel guns, which I’m told are much cheaper than airsoft guns?

I’D definitely love to see Halo 1 and 3’s weapon designs used as dart or gel guns, ESPECIALLY the MA5B and MA5C Assault Rifles (BOTH versions), but will it be profitable in the mainstream, outside of the fanbase? I DO think the Covenant weapon designs would be interesting for Sci-Fi gun fans, but would the handles theoretically need to be altered for the sake of comfortable gripping? In fact, what if INFINITE got their weapons made into Nerf guns? It’d make for some cool-but-not-expensive collector’s items, as well as kids’ toys.

I think we WOULD need to consider the size of the dart guns, of course. Personally, I found BOOMCO’s designs for the Magnum and Assault Rifle too big, and by extension, too heavy. A smaller size and weight would definitely be appreciated, as long as they still fire well.

And if they had accurate paint-jobs, that’d be REALLY awesome.

First of all, I would recommend that in the future you not bold your entire post. It’s kinda hard on the eyes to read your post.

To address your post though, BoomCo has released a number of weapons from the UNSC and the Covenant, and all of them are pretty great and reasonably priced. As for paint-jobs, I actually painted an AR and M6 as part of a cosplay for Outpost Discovery. While it would be cool to have accurate paint jobs from the start, it was cool to see other cosplayers’ takes on the various weapons from a paint/art style perspective. Some went with green while others went with a gray color scheme. And some others even created entirely different color schemes associated with the weapon skins from H5.

In my opinion, BoomCo is a great company and it’s also the best/closest we’re going to get to Halo weaponry merchandise. Guns are an incredibly sensitive/hot button topic right now in the United States. Because of that, BoomCo is the most we’ll see. There are plenty of options out there to approach cosplayers and/or prop makers with requests on something you’re looking for.

I can agree, the timing for this is impeccable and the resonance of guns as a sensitive topic will stick for another half century. BoomCo really is great.

Exactly. BoomCo has been really great, I just wish they would continue to release other weapons. There are plenty of options to choose from.

A BoomCo Halo 2 BR, oh man that would be a dream come true

If Microsoft partnered with a company like Colt or Beretta, they could commission a limited production of Halo-style DMRs. It would be legal for the US market, and I imagine that they would be very popular. They could also manufacture some replica M90 shotguns and/or magnums.

While certainly an interesting idea, and one that I would even possibly slap some cash down for (especially for the shotgun, as I love shotguns), as stated above, the current political climate makes partnering with a weapons manufacturer potentially risky. Halo has largely remained out of politics, aside from the general misinformation about video game violence equating to real life violence. But a move like this would put Halo center stage for a very divisive topic.

But I don’t want to turn this topic into a political discussion, as that will force the mods to lock this thread. So perhaps let’s get back to the topic at hand. BoomCo has been a great manufacturer for Halo NERF guns. The bright coloring can be easily rectified with a couple hours in the garage with some painter’s tape, spray paint, and patience. And really, I love my AR more than ever because I put the time and effort into making it look realistic. I prefer that to whatever realistic design BoomCo could come up with. Not that they couldn’t do a great job. It’s just that the variety of paint jobs and designs is only limited by imagination. So slinging out a bunch of ARs (or other weapons) that are the same color would seem rather boring imo.

IMO they should have Nerf themselves make something. If Nerf can make the freakin’ Fortnite SCAR, I dont see why they couldn’t make a viable DMR or similar weapon.

H2 BR would be great. Honestly, I’d love to see a Rocket Launcher and Saw

I would actually enjoy a BoomCo. BR

I’m surprised by the overwhelming support of BoomCo here. I expected to see nothing but “It’s a cheap knock-off, Nerf could do better!” type posts.

I get enough of that from Mega Construx and Lego…

God a SAW BoomCo blaster, Battery Powered, Drum mag and and fires a BoomCo Bullet every second, just pictured it and I want it so bad, they should make one with The Answer skin

If things worked out, I’d love to see what 343 can create in collaboration with another company. Whether it’d be dart shooters or life-size replicas of their weapons, I’d be down for it.

Nerf recently announced that the Elite Titan CS-50 Mingun is available for pre-order. Look at that picture and tell me that it doesn’t look like Jorge’s Turret! BoomCo could use that as a reference for a similar product that could be sold as Jorge’s Turret or Chain-gun. It’d be perfect!

It’s somewhat surprising that we haven’t seen something like that already with all the cosplayers and prop builders out there.

things I would appreciate from Halo Weapon Props,

1- Orange Barrel Tips
2- Actual 1:1 size (BOOMco madface)
3: Airsoft

Id like to see a suppressed SMG shooting air soft rounds gel rounds or chalk rounds.

I’d kinda like to see 343 make functional replicas of various semi-automatic Halo weapons. I would love to have the DMR from reach, for example, that actually functions.

Dmr from reach would be cool
