Any recommendations for button layout?

Last Friday I just started Halo 5 and man does it feel weird with the aiming and the added thruster pack. I know it’s based on player preference, but i would like to know what your button layout is and why you like it. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thank you all for the feedback, I’ll look into helljumper, Halo 4, and maybe bumper jumper. If you use something else but these three, let me know what you like about it!

I use the halo 4 layout.

I feel like the HellJumper is the way to go for this game!
I use it and perform really well ( For the most part)

Bumper jumper is great. It’s the most consistent controller scheme in Halo, with only small changes happening to the mapping on the A, X, and D-pad buttons. It’s also exactly the same as in Halo 4 and the MCC.

I’m probably the only person that uses recon and I like it. It’s weird but it’s just a beast when it comes to quick reactions and comfort of your fingers.

I use default with claw grip and it works for me.

I have used recon since Halo Reach. However, in H5, it just didn’t work for me b/c you can’t aim ground pound at all (with a standard controller grip).

I’ve heard bumper jumper is the best. And I don’t doubt it one bit. However, I’ve been using A to jump since 2001 in CE and I guess I’m an old dog that can’t learn a new trick (: Default using left trigger to aim is just insulting, so I finally landed on ‘Halo 4’ (which absolutely should be ‘default’ now).

It has melee as RB, thruster as LB, Sprint with pushing in left paddle, nade as LT, fire weapon with RT and of course HALO zoom with R3 (:

That is all of the buttons you need access to without having to move your hands (B crouch, A jump, X reload, Y switch guns).

I would strongly recommend ‘Halo 4’ for anyone who doesn’t want to learn bumper jump and who also doesn’t want to ADS with LT. Halo 4 would be best for people that used to use ‘Default’ or ‘Recon’ on Halo 4 b/c of the new abilities that we need quick access to.

You’re not the only Recon user. I use it, so does Naded from pro team ALG (so we’re both in good company).

Yea ground pounding on standard controller is next to impossible. But I always planned on buying a scuf for H5 in the beginning so having those back paddles makes GP’s insanely easy now.

No layout is perfect. Which ever one is best for you

I use Fish Stick. I like having my melee button on my right stick.

Default has been working great for me.

Interesting. I’ll look into this.

Thanks!

No wonder my ground pound commendations aren’t even at lvl 2.

Either default or Halo 4 controls.
