This is something that bothered me massively on Reach, a long with the vehicle health and damage nerfs this just took it over the top and wasn’t necessary as the Laser already filled this role.
If it is I will struggle with purchasing the game as vehicle combat is a huge reason I find Halo so enjoyable.
Most maps didn’t have a laser and the pretty much all had a sniper. This stopped teams from picking up those weapons then getting in the tank or banshee with no way to take them out. However there hasn’t been any info about weapon damage to vehicles yet.

Same here
Because Reach’s vehicular combat was so poorly made, it made reach the worst Halo for me
i know that you can still use vehicles to their fullest extent, but it doesn’t go that far with their crappy armor
and even worse…Noob Gunners/Drivers
Well, the sniper fires a bullet similar to the .50 cal and it’s armor piercing, so I’d expect for the sniper rifle to do at least a little damage against vehicles, but not as drastic as it was in Reach.
Even though Reach’s vehicles have regenerating health similar to a player’s, a compromise for bringing back fully regenerating health vehicles should be that the SRS99 keeps its vehicle damaging properties.
Players have a strategic choice, shoot infantry and let the vehicle shoot their team, or shoot less infantry and destroy the vehicle that can be wrecking said sniper’s infantry support… A compromise is to damage the vehicle heavily so that the team can finish it off.
I hope it isn’t anti vehicle.
We have a Spartan Laser for a freaking reason
> We don’t know yet if the Sniper can wreck vehicles in Halo 4. It sounds like a tank when it fires though.

I think every or most vehicles should have a weakpoint. I know some have weakpoints now but anyways my idea was if a sniper were to hit that point it would do around or as much damage as it would in Reach. Obviously since it would be a sniper the weakpoint would be pretty small. Just an idea.
I hope it is, but it should less damage to tanks than in Reach. It is an anti-material rifle so it makes sense.
What with personal ordinance drops some of the bigger maps may see an increase in the number of sniper rifles being used so the extreme damage to tanks would probably be overkill. Especially with the laser knocking about…
Spartan Laser isn’t on most maps. The sniper didn’t need this ability in Halo 3 because we had additional weapons such as the Missile Pod, Brute Shot, Trip Mine, Power Drainer, etc. to balance the vehicles out.
With all that gone in Reach, the Sniper had to be given this ability. Honestly, I think it’s a pretty equal trade-off. 4 sniper bullets (potentially 4 kills) to take out one guy.
Now with Halo 4, vehicle drivers will have armor mods that will buff up their vehicle. This just calls for the sniper ability even more.
To me, vehicles should be a power weapon, not an unstoppable force. I think it’s a terrible idea to have it so that a vehicle automatically wins every Vehicles vs Spartan combat.
If you go onto the Halo 4 page here at Waypoint and look at “Ordnance”, it DOES say that the sniper is “Anti-Materiel”, not “Anti-Personnel”. So, I’m assuming that it will also pose a large threat to vehicles.
I like how the spartan laser feels and shoots, it makes sense to be anti vehicular, reach completely killed the idea of that with the sniper
Sniper should be good at getting people out of the vehicle, shooting through the windshield of a hog or getting the hatch off the scorpion and reveal the person’s head or shooting the exhaust in the back to blow it up, not pew pew to the armor and its dead

It takes 5 shots to destroy a Banshee, not sure on 'Hogs, and it barely damages tanks unless you shoot the treads or engine.
There is no pew-pew-dead.

The Sniper Rifle fires (according to the information booklets that come with the games) a 14.5x114mm Armor Piercing, Fin Stabilized, Discarding Sabot (APFSDS) round.
Basically it’s the same type of round fired by M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, but on a smaller scale.
I’d be worried if it didn’t punch through vehicle armor.
I personally don’t mind the Sniper Rifle being more effective against vehicles in Halo 4, so long as vehicles are generally a lot more durable than they are in Halo: Reach.

In terms of gameplay and not realism I think the SR should do damage to vehicles, but not to the same extent as it was in Reach. It just seemed way too much to me, but then again, Reach’s vehicular combat was so bad for a number of reasons. All of it’s problems seem to blend together for me.
