Hi, I saw a recent blogpost about the list of changes coming to Halo Infinite. I thought most of those were great. I also think the game in general looks pretty awesome. While I liked Halo 5, a lot, in excited to see a game that looks in part like a return to form.
One thing that I would have liked to see more of was more body types. In particular, more feminine body types. I’m a big fan of having a spartan that feels like me. And I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any updates about how many body types will be if the final game? If you guys don’t know that’s cool. In any case I’m sure I’ll enjoy the game, was just curious is all.
They haven’t said anything on the topic yet, but I’d assume something like this would be post launch. Adding a new body type isn’t as simple as just adding a new model, they have to make sure every piece of armor, coating, etc works with it so it can be a timely process. When the next flight comes out there’s going to be a feedback thread for it on waypoint. Make sure to be specific and clear that the amount of body types in the game at the moment aren’t diverse enough and you’d like more variety in particular to more feminine body types.
I would definitely like to see more body types in the game. The big problem is is doing it right, you can have several body types in the game making people built athletic, slim or kinda bulky like george from reach. This is all really cool but we also have to remember how complicated it makes the game such as adjusting armor pieces for each body type or the biggest factor the hitbox of the player. this becomes a big problem since it would ultimately make other build types useless since skinny and slim body types will have a tactical advantage over the others with larger hitboxes. The only possible way I can see this working out is having and body type usable in social playlist and custom games but have only 3 available body types that are very similar to each other or maybe just one body type when playing arena. I do hope we see more of this so we can add some uniqueness to our character.
Females were intentionally left out of the flight and intentionally omitted from the feedback article. My daughters feel pretty excluded. Character customization has always been their favorite part of every video game.
Distinct male and female body types have been deemed offensive by some people.
They’re had to cut features to get the game out on time.
Kind of ridiculous that they bragged about being “inclusive” with prosthetics yet we can’t even choose to be a left-handed firer or female. Even the default MP Spartan build is more of a flabby dad bod than a supersoldier.
Please remember that H3 elites, and female Spartans in Reach and H5 had the same hit boxes as their human male counterparts while still looking feminine. None of these games were broken because of it. Different armor cores use the same hit ones as well. Can’t use these as excuses either.

Spartans are androgenous do to their fitness and them in a combat suit. As of now, what they have is fine given the context of the characters and universe.
Also, I dont think you know what a dad bod is if you think any of those in game are that.
I’m all for inclusivity but in order to make a meaningful visual distinction they would have to create dramatic/exaggerated differences between body types. This happened in H5 where every female Spartan seemingly had a BBL done. Anything less than this would likely not be noticeable while playing (and I don’t think this is the message they want to send).
The problem is that when every Spartan is equipped with a heavy suit of armor it dwarfs any physical differences in body types. Perhaps more feminine armor is what you’re looking for?

The bots did have female voices, so it’s likely that will be there at launch. The lack of female body types does worry me however, as they would have to be crafted around the existing armour.
I noticed that no matter what body type you used, they all kept the same armour sizes. So unless they scale things around, Im a little concerned we wont get any.
Well, I mean female Spartans aren’t meant to look feminine? I also think it might not happen because there might just be a specific way they are augmented so the only real difference you’ll ever see is height and even that’s hard to tell soldier to soldier unless you line them up next to each other because of how small the difference is. I’m not an expert on how the Spartans are augmented, you’d have to look elsewhere for the answer to that.
However making a left handed soldier doesn’t seem impossible (as I’ve seen some others chatting about).

to be fair it is kinda scuffed that we are this many years into gaming being a thing and left handed options are still non-existent, it would be cool if they atleast did what you can in cs:go where you mirror you viewmodel in first person. it doesnt change how your third person model is but still you get it in first person.

Body types have zero effect on hotboxes. And female/male body types despite being noticeably larger or smaller under the armor have never had an effect either.
Was also surprised at the lack of under the armor spartan customization and voice toggles, but that was a tech preview so its understandable. I think halo 5 / reach did the body types right. Infinite should at least have comparable to those titles if not more body types where possible but the game doesnt seem to be launching with all its features intact. maybe this is another one of those things that will come post launch? 343 didnt mention it at all in the feedback blog post so I have no idea where they are on this.

I didn’t personally feel the body types were really exaggerated in Reach/5, but I’m fine if you disagree. I was specifically talking about body types. And I don’t feel they’d have to be too obvious. If people didn’t notice all the time it wouldn’t be the end of the world or anything, but in the menu when I’m customizing I’d like to be able to see myself more as the Spartan. More armor could definitely help, but I’d still personally prefer a bit more body types.
Like I’ve generally said in these threads. Infinite’s female Spartan options look more realistic. I love it.
No players actually looks like Spartans.
I wouldn’t mind more options, just don’t do it like Reach and 5.
I want the women in Halo’s MP to be represented as what they are. Spartans.
Most women do not have bodies shaped like in h5.
If they do, they probably won’t maintain that appearence after becoming as buff as a Spartan.
If they somehow do, the Mjölnir armour would mostly conceal that. It wouldn’t make sense for the UNSC so design war-armour to bring out curves.
It’s just unrealistic.
